Lexi was in the hospital for 4 days My poor Lexi was n the hospital for the last 4 days, she came home this morning. Her allergies were so bad she chewed her legs up pretty bad, and one of her injection spots became infected and she has a staff infection. It moved to her back and she had to have an antibotic IV. It got so bad she couldn't hardly walk and was very sick. She had been on antibiotics for 2 weeks but they didn't help. She is doing much better right now and they are changing her allergy shots. I haven't been on to post this all week because my WONDERFUL vet allowed me to stay there for the last 4 days and do some (alot) volunteer work. I have been taking pups out, holding them, and OMGosh, I had to bottle feed the cutest, fuzziest kitten I have ever seen. (and my mom has purshions (SP) We are home and she is doing better her legs look sooo much better, but my poor baby had to have a very short (close to the skin bold) cut. I don't care though I am just so happy she is OK. I so hope somewday in the near future she can get some relief from her allergies... I will be on more after we move we are closing today in 3 1/2 hours... |
I am so sorry that little Lexi is going through this. There was another thread a few weeks ago from someone who had their baby allergy tested and found tons of food products they were allergic to and eliminating them from the diet had worked wonders. If you haven't done this, maybe this would be the next step. Congrats on the new house - hope the move goes well. Also hope that Lexi gets all better soon. Keep us posted. P.S. Awwww poor baby!!! Allergies are just so horrible. I'm just glad Lexie is starting to feel better, give her kisses from me and Coco :p |
Thank you, we have had 6 alergy test done 2 being skin test. She is allergic to everything, most of her allergies are outside allergies, but she does have many indoor allergies too... |

Glad, Lexi is doing better. The poor little girl. I hope where ever you are a freeze over comes soon and kills all the allergens outside. Best of luck in your new home. |

Thanks everyone, I am beginning to think we need to just pack up and move to Alaska. LOL (jk) Seriously though I am so sad for her, she really has it rough. I will get pics of her new cut as soon as possiable... |

Oh my, I know how discomforting allergies can be and for dogs to have it and be able to express it out must be so hard. I am glad Lexi is feeling much better and I get you gave her the best TLC while in the hospital and now at home . . . she is very lucky to have you :thumbup: Hope she continues to feel better :) |

That poor baby! It is the most horrible thing in the world to itch! I had a terrier mix who was allergic to everyting I was told. Grass, trees, even himself! I thought the vet was wacko but he was right. He lived to be 16 but it was so sad sometimes and it broke my heart. I hope Lexi finds relief between meds and diet change so she can just be a little playful life loving Yorkie.:) |

Thank you all, I only have a minute cuz they are gettig ready to pack up my puter. She is doing a LOT better, she is back on the god aweful prednisone. I know with many of the med there may be later affects but I want the time she has here to be good and comfortable. She is our world and we will do anything to help her. On another note we closed yesterday on the house and we are going to start moving today. Good news is my husband needs access to the puter to chec in at work while he is off, so my cumputer will be back up and running by Monday. Again thank you all soooo much, and Lexi thanks you all too, she LOVED all the hugs (specially from all the furbabies) |
I am glad Lexi is doing better. Be careful with the prednisone. I have heard it can cause calcium deposits if used for a long time. Chachi was on it for a while also when he had skin problems. I was glad when he was taken off of it because it is a steroid |
