Help Hello, I am a somewhat new yorkie owner my Rosie is 9 months old. She is soooo sweet but I also have a 3 1/2 year old Bischon Daisy. Daisy was the first dog I ever had so I spoiled her and now I am paying the price. I have noticed how low key dogs can actually be now that I have Rosie and Daisy is driving me nuts.. What can I do that will work with her now that she is older??:confused: When people come over she goes nuts she jumps and jumps and jumps, runs across the couch, barks at everyone even me when I pull in the driveway and If someone walks by the house she will run up and pounce on the storm door and act crazy. Before I didn't think much of it and she is so cute and sweet but now that I have 2 dogs it drives me crazy. I have read the books, bought the clicker,tried working with her when people come over and I dont know what else to do. I am at a loss I love my dogs dearly but Daisy needs discipline. I would LOVE to hear from anyone with advice Thanks Kathy;) |
Is Daisy the one doing this? If so, has she always done this? I'm a little slow today.;) |
Buy the video the Dog Whisperer, with Cesar Millan. It's the 1st season. He shows how to train an old dog new behavior. I bought video and we have applied some of the training with Misha. It works. She no longer jumps and barks when I come through the door, or guest do. |
Hi Kathy, My 2 dogs used to go crazy whenever someone came home or someone came to the door. I tried spraying them with water and shaking coins in a can and neither of those things worked. Then A while back there was a post on here saying to take a rolled up newspaper or magazine and wack it really hard on a table or something whenever this happened, I tried it and to my amazment it really worked! Now I just have to hold up the rolled up magazine and they back off and do not bark at all. Good luck hun, I know how annoying this can be. Hope it works for you as well as it did for me. Help Yes its daisy doing this and yes she has always done it. I guess I just ignored her behavior alot in the beginning because I would always say shes so cute and little but now shes almost 20 pounds and its VERY annoying. Thanks for the advice. Yes I have been using the rolled up newspaper but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I wouldn't mind if she barked a little when someone came over becuase dogs are suppose to but to act like an idiot is driving me CRAZY:confused: I would love to hear anymore suggestions I will also look for the video |
