How Long Does it Take??? Hey everyone!! I am taking Romeo Casanova to a new groomer tomorrow. I was just wondering how long it takes you groomer to finish with your furbaby. In the past, I have dropped Romeo off at 8 am and went back at 5:30 and he wasnt finished yet!! I feel like that is just too much on them. Hopefully our new groomer will be more time efficient. Just let me know....Thanks!!! |
It doesn't usually take very long (hour, maybe) to do Little Bit but one groomer in Mont Belvieu, TX will charge you a day care fee if you don't pick them up soon after they call. I had never heard of such before but apparently it does happen. |
I usually drop my 2 off at 9am & she is done by 10:30-11am with both of them. I just tell her that I am staying in town to run some errands so to call me as soon as she's done & she usually does them 1st! :) |
i found a pet salon that offers express grooming. he's done in less than an hour. it's $20 more, but i think it's worth it. he doesn't go in a crate or have to wait. |
Some places (I feel) are ridiculous. The will only accept dogs in the wee hours of the morning, and then you pick up your furbaby in the evening. What the heck are they doing all that time? I JUST got Baby groomed today for the third time with the same groomer. She takes no more than 2 hours, and it costs me $35 plus tip. It's great cuz I can't take Baby in the morning b/c I have to be at work! :p |
I'm going to tell her I will be in town for a few hours and ask if I can swing by and pick him up after I'm through. Maybe that will hurry the process along a little more. He tends to get diarehha (sp) when he is put in a crate. Dont know why...he just gets nervous. It was hell getting him potty trained because of this. So I certainly dont want him sitting in a crate all day. It defeats the whole purpose of the grooming. |
Grooming your yorkie Check in your area to see if there are mobile groomers. Here in Miami, Fl we do and I use one that does a good job, charges only $25.00 and your baby does not have to leave your home, wait in a crate before and after he is groomed. It is a good service and your baby is not expose to fleas, ticks and be in contact with a possible sick dog being groomed at the same place. |
Unbelieveable! We have an appointment. She starts her as soon as I take her in or within a few short minutes. She's done in 45 minutes to an hour. |

Many shops will bring all the dogs in in the morning, work on each one to do an initial brushout, nails, etc, then bath and put them in a cage to dry. Once the last one is done they go back and finish the first ones. that's why he still wasn't done by late afternoon, they wer eworking on other dogs and likely there were more not finished. It never made sense to me to have dogs sitting in a shop from 8 or 9 am and no one could get to it until 11 am or almost noon because of all the other dogs there. As a groomer, this is how I was trained but I always thought it was stupid. When I worked in a shop as the only groomer, I staggered the times the dogs were dropped off and none were in longer than a couple of hours except the big breeds with lots of coat as I needed brush and drying time for after the bath. The only ones I had in the shop all day, were ones people dropped off on their way to work and picked up on the way home. Those ones, I took a lunch break and took them out to potty etc, gave them a drink and they were quite happy with me. People working in town I offered to have the dog done by lunch time and they would pick them up during their lunch break and take them home. I now do all mobile grooming going to people's homes. Yorkies will usually average about an hour, sometimes less from start to finish. Some of the other small breeds will take at most maybe 90 minutes depending on size and coat. |
Hey Everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I took Romeo to the groomer at 8:30 this morning and left my number with her to call me right when she finished with him. She called me at 10:30 and was finished with him. I am so pleased. She finished in 2 hours which is faster than any groomer has ever finished with him, it is closer to our house, and he looks fabulous!:D I am so happy!!! |
Great! I wouldn't allow someone to stick them in a kennel all day. That's just cruel, especially, when they aren't used to kennels and then they're in a strange place, too. I'm glad it has worked out for you. |
