Embarrassing Problem My Yorkie wears his hair longish (talking about the skirt it doesn't touch ground but aboutt 2 inches above ) and sometimes when he does a poop it gets on his fur around his tush. What do I do? He gets wicked dingleberries? |
When we groom the boyz we trim that area...very carefully...and we also trim the tail hair in a wedge instead of letting it grow long. I thought I had a picture of Riley's tail but I must have deleted it. |
I trim Max and Abbie's hair in the area but I also clean the area with wipes when they come inside after going to the bathroom. My brother laughs at me because I wipe my yorkies' butts when they come inside but I just want to make sure that they are clean since the lay on the bed, couch and on ME :) He has a boxer so he doesn't have to worry about stuff like that  |

Little, tiny dogs are much closer to the ground, have very short legs and longer hair styles. Of course they get more on them when going potty than a boxer does. Not to be gross, but a boxer's poop has approx 1-1.5 feet between the poop leaving their butt and hitting the ground. A Yorkie has what, maybe 2-3 inches??? |
I put a little Cowboy Magic on that area -- makes it harder for the dingle berries to stick. |

my mom's yorkie has this problem. she trims around back there and we use wipes. if she gets mushy poo poo we have to put her little butt in the sink and wash it. |
You really should keep the hair trimmed if you don't take them to the groomer. It can get packed on and dried on and then they can't poop and can end up empacted and require a vet visit. |

when i had a husky this was not a problem .... keep baby wipes with you ..... I tell the groomer to specificality clean around her 'poopy tail'. and this week I did have to put her in the sink also .... but we love them ..... |
I love that someone actually had to use the word "dingleberries" in a post! RoFL :yelrotflm |
