Haruka's spay is scheduled for next friday!
 
Yesterday I took her to a vet for vaccinations and planned for a spay. We decided to spay her next week as we should do this before her first heat. She is still small but the vet has a lot of experience spaying and neutering smaller size dogs and cats, so I feel good about that. The vet also did some blood test and poop test. So hopefully everything comes well and Haruka does okay with spay!! I have to leave her early morning and pick her up late night on that day. I am a bit scared for her. She has been great at a vet office.

Believe me I know how you feel i just got my baby back yesterday from getting spayed. Ask your vet if they do the laser surgery its great lesser healing time less bleeding and alot easier on the dog i would recomend it to everyone. But also ur baby will be in some pain so make sure they give u pain meds!

I got a call from the vet today. Blood test and Poop test, both are normal. I feel very good!! :)

I am taking her coming Friday.. so I can rest with her over the weekend :)

Hi Michiko - I know you don't like to say the weight of Haruka on here, but I was just wondering how much she weighs and how old she is now - I think she's 6mths? I have little Ruthie and I really want to get her spayed before her first heat (she was 5mths yesterday) but she's only 2lbs which concerns me a bit....

Haruka is 2 lb and 4-5 oz now. She is 6 months and... 11 days... :) I am worried myself.. so I asked the vet to do the blood work and everything came normal and I expressed my concern about her size and doing spay. So the vet talked to me for a bit about her experience. So I am feeling much better about doing this coming Friday. I think you should talk to your vet to make a plan.

Hi Michiko and Haruka! She's getting so big! Where are you taking her to get spayed? I need to take Frodo in to get neutered and I'm looking at some different animal hospitals and clinics. Let me know how her spay goes!

I'm sure the spay will be fine! Your vet sounds lovely and really onto it!
My Holly was tiny when she was spayed 5 months ago,at 6 months and under 3lbs. She did really well! Ask for pain meds and take her own food-my vet wanted her eating before she came home--same day,in the afternoon.

Ask the vet nurse to ring you afterwards,when she comes out of it-then you will know all is ok. Get a plastic collar-cat size-incase she tries to bite the stitches. Holly did but after wearing the collar for an hour, decided it was better not to bite! She may be very sleepy for a day or two. Good luck!

I sent you pm. It is hard to find a good vet. Which clinics have you tried? I have been to Angel memorial. I know it is a good hospital but too pricy for the service. I know there are many vets there, but I didn't like the vet I got assigned there.

Now I go to a small clinic in Revere. I really like it :)

Thanks for the post. Ya, my vet told me also to try to see if she eats in the morning of spay.

good luck with your baby...i am sure everything will go fine....definatly ask for pain meds...bella just got spayed wed and they didnt send me home with any....she was crying non stop till i could get to the office and pick some up....everythign will be fine...and we will be praying for you.....
