Strange Looks I was wondering how many of you get strange looks when you take your Yorkie with you shopping? It seems like anytime I have Stump in a carrier and we are at the mall I get such strange looks. I remember one time I was in Hollister shopping and it was me a friend and I had my little cousin with me cause I took her shopping (she is like 9). Anyway.. There was this girl in there about 17 and she started flipping out and crying because Stump was inside Hollister. Like I felt bad but then I was like.. he is in his carrier he is 5 pounds (at the time) and he isn't going to hurt her so shes just over reacting. |
Dogs aren't allowed in the malls here. Living in El Paso, just at the Mexican border I come across many children, teenagers and adults that are terrified of dogs. Yes, even my little Yorkies. Here it is because in Mexico, dogs run wild in packs and carry rabies and are very vicious so they have been taught to fear dogs from a very early age. Most likely she wasn't overreacting, just has had a bad experience. |

I always have Monday in a carrier .... and the only way she can bite (which she never has) would be if someone stuck their hand in ... and knowing Monday, she would probably lick the hand. Monday is 4.5 lb. at 4 years old. I would only take her out of the carrier when I left the mall .... some people walk their dogs on a leash in the mall. Now I may be bias, b/c I don't know how I'd feel if i saw someone walking a ferret or some other such weasel... but thatz me. I wouldn't approach it and I wouldn't say anything either .... Dogz (especially our Yorkies are so much more pleasing to look at).... ferret owners, please do not take offense. None intended. |
Roosevelt field allows dogs?! Once I brung my lil pup in to a clothes store and this nasty lady didn't have the guts to yell at me herself so she went and complained to the manager. |
Ick! A seventen yr. old was actually CRYING because you had your little 5lb Yorkie in a bag in the store! Give me a break. Sounds like a real drama queen to me. |

I've taken Jaxon into quite a few places. My problem is that he has to keep his head outside of his carrier (nosey little guy!). I've seen other dogs at Home Depot and only recently did they put up a sticker at Target for no dogs other than for the blind. I have learned to just not care!!!! |
There is a guy that works at Lowe's by my house that knows Stump on a first name basis. Since we have been remodeing we go in there atleast once a week and they always try and give him milk bones and Stump thinks he is too good for a milkbone, he always turns his nose up to them! Lol. But with the malls, I don't see why they wouldn't be allowed in them if they have a pet store. The one I shop at has a place that sells pets, and they have a little kiosk/booth that is a pet boutique. They used to have a place that sold Dog Treats. I've gotten something said to me once and that was at Walmart... I was holding him, he wasn't in a carrier or anything but it was quick trip, my gramma just got a new dog and it needed a collar and a brush (poor pup was rescued from a puppymill and sooo matted, it is a pom) anyway .. and as we were leaving the greeter was like "oh my god you can't have him in here" and my response was "That is why we are leaving" and I gave her this huge smile lol. |
I haven't taken Jake to any pet stores yet since he's too young, but I got pretty annoyed when I took him outside one day and my neighbor yelled "look, it's the guinea pig dog". |

But I don't think I ever would freak out like that.. I normally just would keep my distance. |
reply about pups in shopping malls and such I take Bubba with me just about everywhere - there are a few places eating of course that I don't unless there are tables outside then I bring him - dress shops I don't for selfish reasons can't try on when poochy is trying to run around the dressing room! Bubba won't stay in a carrier anymore - he does'nt like them - I think he is clostophobic - (sp) everyone knows him by name around here so and they know me so its me and Bubba or where is Bubba ? bas1:animal36 :wavey: |

Once in target a young man told me no dogs allowed, I told him I was not near the food (I wanted to ask if he felt good that he did his job ... but i didn't) If I have Monday with me and they ask me to leave, I guess I would, but I didn't in Home Depot! Told her I had epilepsy (which I do not like to talk about) ... and did not want to leave the dog in the car! By laws of ADA she had NO right to even ask me .... |
