12 lb. 7 month old Yorkie Gracie and I had great fun at the park today. She met two little Yorkies, no more than 4 lbs. each. Then came along this sweet old man with this giant Yorkie! He said that Missy is 7 months old and weighs 12 lbs. He was told she was purebred, but he is not so sure. She was a real sweetheart none-the-less. It was just shocking to see a Yorkie puppy that big! |
Size doesn't matter when it comes to loving a YORKIE. They all give unconditional love to us. Glad you had a good time at the park, it was a beautiful day! |
the bigger they are, the more there is to love. |
Most of the yorkies I see out in public are bigger. So far, it doesn't look like Jake will be very big, although you never know, he may fool us. I would think one of the benefits of a bigger yorkie is that you wouldn't be as fearful to watch where you step. I have to be sooooooooo careful because he likes to follow me around.:) Glad you and Gracie had a good time! |
We were at a dog show a few years back and a breeder had a 21 pound yorkie. It had its papers and all, he said it was kind of an exception to the rule but it was a purebred yorkie. |
Oh, how wonderful to go for a quiet afternoon walk in the park! |
A 12 pound yorkie is hardly a giant.;) |
12lbs is still pretty small, but I know what you're saying. I did some research a while back and there was a time when breeders couldn't contact each other to get different lines to breed their dogs together. Some of them ended up using silky terriers, so it might be a throwback to those dogs which are that size. All yorkies used to be that big as well, so I wouldn't base being purebred on that. As long as the guy loves his dog, that's what counts the most. I LOVE big yorkies anyways. I just want to hug them! One of the cutest yorkies I've seen on the internet is Sully, who is a YT memeber's dog. He is so cute, has a beautiful coat, and looks so huggable! |
