mineral oil in eyes? does anyone know if it is necessary to put a drop of mineral oil in the eyes when bathing doggies? i found some info about grooming yorkies and it says to drop mineral oil in the eyes before you give them a bath. anyone tried it or know if it is safe and know what kind of mineral oil to use? any feedback would be great! Thanx |
I use an ointment that I buy at my groomers for about 5.00 per tube. Works great! Your vet may sell it also. |
I use a product called Safe Eye. Here is the link - it says it is Vitamin E and purified mineral oil. So if you can find purified mineral oil I'm sure it would be fine. http://www.petedge.com/sdx/109005.jsp |
I use plain old saline solution....it really good when they have an infection in there eye...but good to clean them out...:) |

Whats it supposed to do anyway? |
It just protects the eye from the shampoos. It is recommended even with tear free shampoos. |
Ohh, I don't wash my pups head when she takes a bath i'm to scared it'll get in her ears. |

Yeah my biggest fear is that i'll get so much water in her ears that she'll go deaf:eek: or maybe i'm just paranoid...anyway I just wash her face with a towel soaked with warm water. |
Thanx for all your advice! but i need to wash his face cuz it stinks and it starts stinking like two days after i wash him. his eyes are always watery and the cotton ball never stays in his ear (he shakes them out) when i bathe him so i pretty much just cover his ears when i'm rinsing him and them go over the inside with a q-tip to make sure it's dry. you think saline would work for the tearing? |
