food?? ok i have a question..about the food that is best for a yorkie??? Something that will keep my furbaby healthy!! what do u feed urs or what would u recommend??? help!!! |
I feed Gracie Nutro natural choice puppy! i have liked it very much so far! it doesnt have by products or wheat or corn which is good! Corn can make them itch ! |
any premium food is good. many on here feed nutro, wellness, natural balance, merrick, solid gold, royal canine, and probably some others. i have my pup on wellness. its a great food. |
are those wet or dry?? |
i believe all of them come in both varieties. i feed dry only since i don't want her to have crappy teeth later in life. |
I used to do dry food in the morning and wet at night. I got tired of the dirty faces from the wet (even after washing) and now do all dry. The wet can make their faces very messy. |

I feed Nutro Natural Ultra dry, but there are many quality foods out there for sale at pet stores, not grocery or department stores. Here is a link to help you recognize an inferior or superior dog food. http://www.holistic-hounds.com/AboutUs.html |
ok these are all helpfull thanks...i just needed to know cause the breeder im gettin my baby from says she feeds hers cesar soft food but i dont know about that..so i wanted to ask you guys to see what the majority of u feed ur babies...thanks a lot :) ;) :D |
Here's the Cesar ingredients - all the meats are by-products (what is left over and not fit for human consumption). I would not suggest you discontinue the Cesar right away even if it is junk. For a short time it's not going to hurt the puppy and it's more important that the puppy is eating. Changing homes is already stressful enough without changing the diet. Go ahead and buy a quality small kibble dry food and leave a bowl out and offer her that more as a treat than a meal and eventually get her on only the dry food. Sufficient water for processing, beef by-products, meat by-products, liver, poultry by-products, chicken, beef, calcium carbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, carrageenan, dried yam, caramel coloring, xanthan gum, natural flavors, salt, erythorbic acid, guar gum, zinc sulfate, biotin, vitamin A, D3 and E supplements, yellow #5 & #6, sodium nitrite (for color retention), vitamin A, D3, and E supplements, d-calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), copper sulfate, potassium iodide. |

I feed mine Nutro Ultra and love it!! They love it too!!! Their poop don't stink as bad as before when I was feeding them Eukanuba...and a bag of the old stuff used to last me a while I guess because they didn't care for it. |
I just switched Diesel's food. He was on Ultra Nutro Chicken Rice and Oatmeal. I switched his food because of the dried beet in the food was causing his eyes to really water. I switched him to Chicken Soup but he honestly doesn't like it. Then I tried Innova and man what a difference. He loves it! He also eats Evolve soft food. Good luck! |
Any food on this list with a protein level between 20-30% is an excellent food and will be healthy for your little one. |
Both of mine Love Royal Canin Both of mine Love Royal Canin, in fact it's the only one they will eat consistently! I used to change their food around b/c they were so picky, but I don't have the energy to cater to every whim of theirs? I went through feeding them by hand etc. I prefer it b/c it's such a high grade food that they don't pooh very often, just 2 x per day, and they both get alot of exercise every day so they are pretty muscular. I'm probablly the only one that uses it, since it's hard to find and quite pricey around my neck of the woods. But it works for me.:animal36 |
I use Chicken Soup For The Puppy Lovers Soul...she loves it and the pieces are tiny. It's also got great ingredients and NO CORN. Yorkies are prone to corn allergies. |
I was going to try Royal Canin, but I was worried that the high protein content wouldn't be that good for Diesel. I know a lot of people whose dogs love it tho. Right now I am just glad that I ahve found something he really likes! |
I've been useing nature variety they sold it to me when I bought my yorkie. |
I feed Canidae All Life Stages and Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul (both hard foods) mixed together. They are both on the 5-star list that I posted above. Every food on that list is Super Premium food with no corn, no wheat, no byproducts, human-grade meats, fresh veggies, and just an all around excellent food. You cannot go wrong with any food on that list. I may also want to add that Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul is on the 5-star list, but not the Adult formula. The Puppy formula is actually formulated to be an all-life stages forumla, so even if your furbaby is an adult, you can still feed the Puppy forumla and be ensured that you are feeding a high quality food.   P.S. -- all the foods listed in the 6-star category on that Dog Food Reviews website are too high in protein for our little babies. That is why it is recommended that you feed a food off the 5-star list, but beware of the protein levels. You want to have a food with a protein level between 20-30%. Let us know what you decide to feed! :D |
