Grooming Schedule Do you have a grooming schedule? I'm not talking about grooming as in hair trimming and nail clipping ... I mean a nightly or weekly grooming maintenance schedule. I have a nightly grooming schedule. I first gently wash Codie and Tia's feet, booty and pee pee. :p :p Then I put lotion on the pads of their feet (be careful what type of lotion you use!! Don't use a scented lotion because they could lick it off and get sick or they could be allergic to it. I use vaseline with lanolin [recommended by my vet] and it's amazing -- their feet are so soft!!!). Then I brush their little teeth (Tia has a pink hello kitty tooth brush and Codie has a blue superman tooth brush lolol). After that, I spray some pet cologne on them and comb their hair. Then we're all ready for bed!! :D :D If it's cold outside, I put their pajamas on too. :p All of that is done nightly. They also get a bath once a week. Ok, now it's your turn to post your nightly grooming rituals!! :D |
Wow, what great care you take of your babies! I need a schedule, especially with one more coming  What will bath day feel like? :p |

I brush Chachi and Jewels hair at night and brush their teeth. Sometimes I put this cologne I have on them that smells like baby powder |

Wow! You are GOOD! The only thing that gets done daily around here is Sugar's topknot. I do try to brush all three daily but it doesn't always happen. |
oh jen, yes she does have her own room, thats only because i have no children and never will at this time in my life....i was cut short so what ever i was gonna give my human children that i dont have, i give it all to lexi. i mean all ....... i have to show everyone an update on her room, i have some of her stuffed animals hanging from the ceiling....anyway backto grooming. everymorning and everynite i wash her face with a warm cloth first i stick her up on the counter to do this, then i take the gook out of her eyes, brush her face and back and put her ponytail back on straight and a treat comes.. once every two weeks i take out the sissors and shaver and trim her butt whick i did last nite with a bunch of cheerios... shes good to go |
I brush teeth every night...brush hair during the day. What is this pet cologne I'm reading? Is it natural? Is it safe? Is it good for anti-flea? We haven't had a flea problem but I'm always thinking of prevention. suz |

I am a new Yorkie mommy, and home during the day so Sophies routine happens every morning after my shower. I take a shampoo wet cloth and clean her head and feet, and take the flea comb and tear stain remover pads and clean her eyes, I then give her a good brush down and she is back to a fluff ball instead of looking like a little rat puppy. I also give her a bath about every 3 days simply because she sometimes steps in her poop or has a pee accident in her crate. I can't wait for her fur to get longer so I can really start putting bows in.:aimeeyork |
Are we all nuts or what?:D Well we don't do grooming in the pm. We do ours in the am. I comb Buddy every morning. No more brush. I read somewhere on here that someone found a comb better so I went out and bought a nice medal one with a great handle. His hair is starting to get longer and I have to say it works great.(letting him grow in for the first time) Anyhow, after combing I brush his teeth and then he gets a toothbrite cookie. Fresh breath is a must! He knows the routine and gets in position before I get the stuff! LOL Loves toothpaste! Buddy gets bathed every other Sat. I use vasoline on his paws a couple times a week. His paws get washed everytime he comes back from a walk. No P.J's at night. Just a kiss on the head and nighty nite Bud, mommy loves you. Lights out and we are both counting z's in no time!:p Carol |
any good tips for toothbrushes/natural tooth pastes? oscar haaates having his teeth brushed and i was wondering if there were anything out there to make him like it a little more? |
Lexi's mom sounds like me! No kids, not have any so Buddy is my baby! He doesn't have his own room - we have to share - but he does have his own bed in nearly every room - kitchen, living room and bathroom - and he has his car seat - BUT as for grooming routine, I keep his hair short (I feel like he is more "manly" that way :-) ) so occasionally I just run a brush through his hair and use a warm washcloth if his face gets yucky - but I don't have a routine. I know I should brush his teeth, but I haven't really - I've relied on his bully bones and such to do the work...I am a bad mom! |

I use one of those fingertip toothbrushes for Jake, and he seems to enjoy getting his teeth brushed. |
I have a morning AND night time routine with Jake. In the morning, I wash his face with a warm wash cloth and brush his teeth then I brush him. If it's cold, I put a shirt on him. If it's nice, I don't bother. I work in the evenings so when I get home at night it's late, and he is sleeping with my hubby. But, he hears me and wants to get up to see me. So, I let him go potty and then I wash his face, paws and private parts, brush him, and dress him for bed (if it's cold). Right now, his PJs are too big for him, so I've been putting little shirts on him that look like night shirts. I bathe him once a week. |
