Poor puppy!!! my friend and i both bought two females from the same litter. Her puppy was the runt and doesn't even weigh three pounds. She was going to get her fixed because she was so little but now she told me she is going to buy a male and breed her!!!:eek: :eek: :eek: I know she loves this baby with all of her heart and i tried to tell her that her puppy would have serious problems and might even die if she bred her. she wouldn't listen so i asked her to at least talk to our vet for his expert opinion. my hubby says she'll just have to learn the hard way but it is breaking my heart because she has always wanted a little lapdog and saved up her money for a few years for her yorkie. i don't know what else to do. i love her little dog to and don't want to see her die from birthing complications. i just don't know what else to do.:( :( :( :cry: :unlove: |
How old is her dog? If she realizes that she might lose her dog with a pregnancy what is her reasoning for doing it? Why not have her join YT and she can see and hear for herself what has happened to others who might have tried the same thing....other than that, although your sad your husband is right, she will just have to learn the hard way...or perhaps God willing she will do ok... She might have affection for her dog but no love. If she already has been warned and insist on doing this than she has no regards for the wellbeing of her dog first and foremost.:eek: :thumbdown |
Unfortunately this happens all the time. I know a friend who wants to breed hers and she is too small also. But you try and try to tell them but in the end they are going to do whatever they want no matter what you say.:( I know how you feel, like the situation is hopeless. They refuse to listen but in the end they are going to be the ones who wish they would have listened. It is so sad that they won't listen and have to learn this the hard way.:( |

I know a lady who has a couple of 3 pound yorkies she repeatedly breeds(she uses a smaller stud). She has two litters due this year. I don't think her vet sees a problem with it. He deals with small animals and hasn't told her not to do it. I know she just got two more females(one is going to be smaller than 3pounds grown) and I know she will use it for breeding. While I could never breed an animal to make money(that's just me), I wonder how come chihuahuas can have puppies and they are usually much smaller than yorkies but everyone feels so strongly against breeding small yorkies? I'm just asking because when people see my tiny female they think "oh you should breed her and the puppies will sell for sooo much". I tell them that she is much too small and would need a c-section. Their reply is usually "What's wrong with that? People have c-sections all the time and tiny poodles and chihuahuas have puppies all the time." |

Apparently, the dollar signs are much bigger than her love for her puppy. That is all I have to say. As for chihuahua's, the one's I've seen during my lifetime, the females used to breed are bigger than that. There are deplorable breeding practices everywhere, but a responsible and reputable breeder doesn't do these things. |

I would NEVER delibrately do something to one of my dogs if there was the slightest chance that they would suffer any pain, etc. This whole topic upsets me. We all want to make money, but when you risk the health of your animal, you should really have second thoughts. Sometimes people really disappoint me. |

tell her to let you have the little dog you feel as if she doesn't love her enough to treat her properly then maybe she will take you seriuosly when you say it's not good /healthy to breed such a small dog! |

But she is very hard-headed and isn't listening to a word i say...i'm just upset and frustrated over this whole thing. i will try to see if i can send a pic of how small her puppy is -i'm computer delinqent!!! |

i really hope she does gain weight. my friend free-feeds her but she hardly eats very much. i just hope everything goes okay with her baby. when my chi was pregnant...i had so many knots in my stomach the whole time and she weighed 6 lbs.!!!oh well....she can't say i didn't warn her.....:rolleyes: |
WHY does she want to breed her? Maybe you can find some stuff on the internet or on this site to print out and show her (or email to her). |

Out of curiosity how small is too small to breed. What is the smallest? 3 and half pounds??? 4 pounds???... 5 pounds???... 6 pounds??? Are you safe if your vet checks your baby out and get the okay from him.. I mean do realize even with an okay and a bigger dog there is never a gaurantee... Just curious??? :confused: |
Thank Goodness!!! well blessed be...i just got off the phone with my friend and i think i have her talked out of breeding her baby esp. since i told her her puppy would probably die along with all of her babies. she has decided to get a boy dog and have him neutered so her baby can have somebody to play with. she says her puppy acts so lonely sometimes and wants to get her a playmate to snuggle with!!! Phewww...talk about a load off my shoulders there.:rolleyes: :D :D |
OK, now we need to figure out how to get her to spay her little princess! |
