How old before a bath? Venus is 15 weeks old. I try to brush her every night, and get mats out. She seems to mat up a lot, and its taking longer each night to get them out. I need to know if its ok to give her a bath yet? On Adonis, I've been using Pantene conditioner, but he's 5 years old. You think its ok to use Pantene conditioner on her too? I bathe Adonis in the tub, and blow dry him. He is tolerant of the blow dryer now, but is not that fond of it. I keep it moving, so it doesnt' get too hot. I will be blow drying Venus too, being very careful and keep it moving. You all think its ok to bathe and cream rinse her yet? |
My puppies get their first bath at about 6 weeks, so at 15 weeks it is fine. Just try not to get water in the ears. I usually use a tear free baby shampoo on the puppies in case I get it in their eyes. |
Shes plenty old enough. I gave Chachi his first bath at 8 weeks |
15 weeks is fine to give Venus a bath. |
You can bathe her now. Jake is 12 weeks old, and I've been bathing him since I got him at 9 weeks. He doesn't like the bath, but it seems to be getting easier for him each time. Just make sure she stays warm after you bathe her. She may be afraid of a blow dryer, I haven't used one on Jake yet. Good luck, and have fun! |
As everyone said, you can definitely give her a bath. But I thought you weren't supposed to blow dry puppies? I used to blow dry Ferdinand until his groomer told me to stop. |
Well, I suppose I kinda follow Adonis around the bathroom with the blow dryer, lol. My bathroom isn't big though. I never get his hair as dry as mine though. But I'm afraid that leaving him wet, he'll get cold. I make sure its not hot on him, as one hand is usually in front of the blowdryer, feeling how hot, and the other hand is following him, and usually catching him from 2 foot away. Nobody told me you couldn't blow dry them. I just know to be very careful doing so. |
why not blow dry them? i've been doing it for over a year. please someone explain |
I've never heard not to blow dry a dog - I'm sure it does dry out their hair somewhat just like ours. Just use caution keep it on a low setting, keep it moving, a diffuser would be good. Also never blow the eyes or inside of the ear. Make sure they are not becoming overheated. Living here in the desert mine dry so quickly I seldom use one. |
