Ouch! I know we have had a lot of threads on biting, but I don't know what else to try with Miss Molly!! I can't deter her away from my hands with one of her toys...they must not be as tasty. I don't want to use the squirt bottle of water method although it may would work, but I spray infusium on her when I brush her and she doesn't like that very much as it is. I tried putting hot sauce on my hands, and she LOVED it. Sat there and licked and licked and licked :p So, any other suggestions? I have also tried popping her on the nose with my finger, on the butt with a rolled up paper (which has always worked well in the past as punishment with my other dogs) holding her mouth shut and telling her no very firmly, growling at her, and everything else I can think of. I've also fussed at her and put her in her playpen, although I don't like using that area as punishment, but sometimes I just have to to get some peace. So, what do I do? Or is this going to be one of those situations where we have to wait it out? I just really hate it when she does it to my little girl. It's hurts me bad enough, I know it hurts her three year old skin; however, it's odd, I don't think she bites her as hard as she does my husband and me. |
I feel your pain... literally! Esme is also a biter! I have decided I am just going to have to wait until those sharp puppy teeth fall out. :( Luckily, she is only biting when playing, it's not aggresive, but it still hurts just the same. I have tried EVERY method you have, and nothing. Biting is her only flaw, other than that, she is PERFECT. Esme will be 6 months next Thursday... I hope we can overcome this stage soon! |
I always held Apple around her face....holding her mouth closed and popped the end of her nose...that worked quickly with her. Lil Bit is still biting a bit but seems to have slowed down some...... I only use the squirt bottle for barking. I did have a much larger dog in the past and "play biting" was a big deal because of that big ol' mouth...a man told me to hold my hand (actually thumb) in the dogs mouth and press down FIRMLY under his tongue until he sorta whimpered.....Said "NO BITE"...that worked wonders on that dog! I would have to have my glasses and a flashlight to find the right spot in Lil Bit's mouth! |

biting Try spraying your hands with Bitter Apple...I use it on my toes and the pups back off. |
Bitter apple has worked wonders for us as well. I use it on my hands and Tia stopped biting them. |
Yep :yeahthat: bitter apple |
Great! Thanks, I'll try that. Where do you get it? |
