What is Nutrical? I'm been reading some threads that mention giving Nutrical to their little ones. What is it and what are its uses?   Thanks in advace for the info!!!   |
This should help, however, I never used a syringe. I just gave it to them on my finger. They go nuts for it!:D http://www.tinyshihtzu.com/nutrical.htm And here is an ad for it: http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=5867 |
it helps the little ones to prevent hypoglycemia. I used it both when jager (my cat) was a kitten since he was bottled fed by me and with Lady..I would just hold the tube up to them and let them lick the little bit I squeezed out...they both loved it... |
I've never used Nutrical, but I have got some Suplical from the vet which I believe is the same thing. Suplical is a sugar based paste that is enriched with vitamins. Small dogs sometimes have trouble with regulating their blood sugar, esp in the early months. Suplical & Nutrical are used to help "top up" a dogs blood sugar during periods of weakness ie. sickness, periods of not eating, long periods of exercise / exertion without chance of eating. Yorkie are very susceptible to hypoglycemic attacks (drops in blood sugar) and will become very listless and weak. Ideally before this period you would use a supplement like Nutrical. If your dog has already become weak and unable to move without help, give a finger tip - an inch worths and rush to a vet. Try not to over use such products as Nutrical or Suplical as they may encourage the onset of Diabetes or other blood problems. Edit. With my dog I've normally had no problems just putting a small blob on my finger tip and have him lick it off, however when he was really sick in addition to force feeding him I would mix about an inch of paste with pedialight (or water) and use a syringe (without a needle) to give to him orally, around once ever 4 hrs. |
I have used Nutrical for my new small pup and she loves it. I always wonder if after opening a new tube does it need to be refrigerated? I have looked on it and nowhere can I find that it says whether it does or doesn't. It does get alot stiffer in texture in the fridge so I wonder does anyone know? |
No, it doesn't require refrigeration. |
No refridgeration is necessary it is the same thing as Karo syrup or corn syrup basically only a little more nutritious... I think this is a good product for anyone with a small dog to have on hand! |
