My yorkie is being spade tomarrow. What should I ask the vet? I heard stories of little yorkies dying during the surgery so naturally i'm concerned. |
I just went through this last week....and asked lots of questions. My most important ones were these two, can't think of everything else I had asked. what type of anesthesia will they be using? (very very important) will they be able to come home that night? |
Which type of anesthesia is best? |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=anesthesia Heres a recent post on the subject...Gas is the safest for these little ones...If you don't mind me asking where on Long Island are you? |
The west end |
What is the name of your vets office? |
I'd rather not say... |
ok...just was wondering I know a few vets on western LI, used to work for a few when I was younger |
I don't mean to undermine your concern, but my question would be this: When can I pick her up? Seriously, you've made the decision to have it done, you've selected a vet that, hopefully, you trust. Say a prayer, then leave it in God's and the vet's hands and try to get your mind off of it. |

the only reason I suggested that as a question to ask is because some Vets want them to stay overnight and NO ONE is there with them...I just went though this..I personally was not comfortable leaving Lady overnight when no one was going to be there watching her... |
I don't get it???Why do they want her overnight if nobody is going to be there to watch her?! |
not all vets require them to stay overnight....mine wanted her to..their reasoning was that so she can rest after the surgery and because they wanted to examine her in the morning....I insisted on bringing her home with me that night and they let me.... and the next morning I brought her back to the vet for her to get checked out.... |

No I didn't take it as you were kidding...it was a MAJOR concern of mine whether she would be coming home that night or not....and I was trying to help someone who had asked a question, since I just went though this last week.. |
Thanks for your concerns :aimeeyork |
