Pooping in crate question. 1 Attachment(s) My new little boy will be 14 weeks old tomorrow and is still pooping in his crate. He weighs 1lb 9 oz. I had him to the vet yesterday and he is healthy. No coccidia or other parasites. I asked the vet about him pooping in his crate and the vet just laughed and said "Yea, Yorkies are the hardest breed to potty train". But that doesn't help me with my problem. Does anyone have any advise about this? Here he is. |
I don't really have any advice but just wanted to tell you that it will happen. ALL my dogs from Pug, Chi, and Yorkie....they all did it. It just takes awhile for there little bodies to hold it. Right now when they gotta go, they gotta go. I just made sure to put a washable towel in the crate and just did a lot of washing. It will stop, it just takes time :) |
Sounds like your crate may be too big. Make the interior of his crate smaller. If memory serves me correctly, the size should only allow for him to be able to stand up and turn around it. GOOD LUCK! |

Maybe try an xpen? crate didn't work out in my case...Pepper went in it no matter what. Switched to xpen and ... he didn't have an accident in weeks now! Amazing, since he's only 3.5 months old. |

Daisy pooped in her crate when she was a puppy too. We knew the crate was too big for her but we felt mean leaving her in a tiny crate where she couldn't stretch out. A couple of times after we left for work we forgot something and came right back home. We found that each time she had pooped in her crate right after we left, and she was walking in it all day. We found out that she had separation anxiety and she was so nervous she couldn't hold it. She did grow out of pooping in her crate and she is mostly over the separation anxiety. She's 3 now and we are able to leave her loose in the house when we leave. Hang in there! |
Hello, we have a 4 month old morkie, Tucker..he recently started pooping in his crate...he has never done this has always slept through the night....we thought it was because he ate something because he had runny poop so he just couldn't hold it...but now it is a nightly routine...yuk...for all...we also thought it was stress related...is this possible?..I am new to this site and find it very helpful and its nice knowing I'm not alone in puppy training....I will try to make his crate smaller for bedtime and hope it does the trick...Thanks to all experienced puppy owners who write here, it is extremely helpful. |
