new to the yorkie game..pls help ok i just got a 3 month old yorkie boy..like 2 days ago...but he sleeps all day...i mean he doesnt wake up to eat i have to wake him...is this normal??? cause at first i thought he is just a sleepy head but now im worried!!!! please help me! |
Could just be the stress of moving into a new home...but doesn't sound quite normal. If it were me, I'd have him checked out. Others here may have more advice. But, has he eaten anything? What about drinking? BTW, welcome to YT |
Oh gosh hun So sorry. Welcome to YT. Have you tried nutracal? or even honey? it sounds like his sugar is low how big is he? |
Have you talked to your vet about it? Little puppies sleep alot but he should take some interest in eating. That doesnt sound normal |
My pup slept A LOT during the first few days... I made sure he got a little NutriCal every 2 hours or so. Wasn't too much of an eater either. I was starting to get worried but then he started doing just fine, playing more and more. I thinkit's a normal stage when they change surroundings, but I'd still have him checked by the vet if it is like that more than 2 days or so.... they are so small it's scary how fast something can go wrong with them. |
 wow ok well he is eating but the breeder i got him from feed him out of her hand...and yes he is drinking pedialyte and water...but i got him the soft food like cesar but he just licks it.....but if i grind it up like liquid and feed it to him he eats...but im about to go to the store and get some nutracal right now! thanks for the help guys..hopefully this will help him! |
You do want to make sure he eats something every few hours. If his blood sugar gets too low, he won't even have the energy to eat. Nutrical, corn syrup or any of those things gets the sugar up fast. You just have to make sure he eats some real food to maintain it. Have you taken him to the vet for a check up? That's a good thing to do even if you have an energetic and seemingly healthy puppy. He might be like this because of the stress of moving to new surroundings. Before you know it, it will seem like he's always been there. Yorkies are known for adapting quickly and then taking over the whole house! |
