Still happening... VET now? Time to go to the vet? I posted that keeley was having diarreha, and that I thought it was stress from our new living situation. Stressed post That was Wednesday, then yesterday (Thurs) he seemed better and then last night he had loose stools, this morning while in his cage- he couldn't hold it-- which isn't at all like him--, and then again around noon. There is definate mucous (sp) in there, a matter of fact it seems to mostly be mucous. I called a vet that is walking distance ( I don't have a car, remember we are living in a hotel for a month for dh's job) and have an appointment this afternoon... Does this sound like it is more then stress. I really don't want to go to the vet if I don't have to, but I am starting to worry. |

I would def take a sample to the vet. It could be several things including stress. When I first got Timmy I went through the same thing and it was collitis...vet gave me meds and he was fine after that. Keep us updated!! |
The mucous is what worries me...and the fact that he couldn't hold it. |

I would go, it could be a parasite. |
I wish I had a magic spell I could use and make him all better. I really don't want to walk to and pay for the vet today... We have been going to the vet WAY to much lately. (ear infection, alleric reaction, shots, daycare, and now this). Or I wish we were home and could go to the vet who knows us. |
Have you changed his food any? |

Good luck and keep us posted. |
I agree with Jeanie and Jodie - it could be a parasite. But it could also be colitis. My first yorkie scared me to death when she had her first mucousy (is that even a word :p ) stool so off to the vet we went. They took a stool sample and some blood work and diagnosed her with colitis. Put her on medication to clear up the inflammation and she was fine - but about once a year the inflammation would return and we'd go back on the meds. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and let us know what you find out. |
UPDATE: Back from the vet... No parasites, but they found some bacterias in his stool sample and they put him on meds and a strict canned food (for GI tract) diet for 48 hours. Other then that he is healthy as a horse!-- or should I say yorkie.;) |
Glad there are no parasites. I hope the meds clear help and he is good as new in no time!! |

So happy Keeley's upset tummy can be fixed so simply and that there were no major problems. You sure don't need that while you're living in a hotel. I hope he starts feeling better soon. |
What does the bacteria in the stool sample mean? Did they give you a diagnosis or cause? What was the medicine? Hope it works really fastfor both of your sakes. Good luck and please keep us updated.:) |
