For those of you that use benadryl... Lola has been scratching again since a visit from the groomers. Think she is allergic to whatever shampoo they used. Anyway, I bought some children's benadryl and I wonder what kind of dosage I should try. I would appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!:) |
There was a thread here not too long ago where someone posted all the dosages to various meds. I meant to print it and save it. It would be something good to tape to the inside of a medicine cabinet. Hopefully, someone will see this and post it again because now I can't find it. |
Children's Benadryl - Use for allergic reactions from an insect bite or plant pollen . Use 1/2 mg. per pound, every eight hours, but no more than 3 total doses. Also call your vet for advice. I have heard of many taking up to 2mg per pound, but this is for those that take it on a daily basis for allergies and develop a resistance to it. |
I've given 1/2 children's to sis's 5 lb Yorkie before....vet advised for a week's time. :) |
i just came from the vet and they said for grooming related allergies they need pregnozone. and antibiotics if they break the skin from scratching. you may want to check with your vet. |
How much does she weigh? |
Emma has seasonal allergies, for which we give 2mL of Children's Benadryl liquid. She weighs 4 pounds or so. This was vet advised. I'd check with your vet to be absolutely sure. |
I'd really love to have the post about the medication doses. Can anyone find it ??? I want to print it out. I think it would be an excellant sticky! |
Don't know which one you are referring to, but here is a link to one. http://lowchensaustralia.com/health/med.htm |
