Detering Cats from My Flower Beds Does anyone know a way or a product that would help keep cats out of my flower beds? Neighborhood cats keep pooping in the beds and of course Ringo likes to eat it. YUCK! I thought I broke him of this...but I guess not. Thanks! |
I can't remember the product name, but there was something for that in the Drs Foster and Smith catalog - I'll look for it for you and tell you the name.. |
Definitely. There's a product out there called "Cat Scat." They are square plastic mats with flexible upright plastic spikes that don't hurt the cats but certainly deter them from walking around your flower beds or anywhere in the garden they don't belong. You can purchase them at the Gardener's Supply Company catalog (www.gardeners.com), item number 31-954. A set of five costs $16.95. I used to have a problem with stray cats passing through my backyard and ruining my newly planted garden a few years ago. I placed the the mats strategically throughout the area and covered them with cedar mulch, and I can attest that the mats work, and they're a humane, non-toxic way to preserve your garden. They're also good if you have a squirrel problem. |
Spread orange peels around the edges, replace when they dry out. Works for my mother in law. S/W |
