Bad News - just came back from the vet So we went to the vet today after that cramp that I thought he had. It turns out that Zoe may need a second surgery on the leg he had luxating patella. There's a click that we hear all the time and it seems that his patella is not completely luxating off his knee groove but is moving slightly that is causing the click. I have to go back in 6 weeks and the vet will determine then. This sucks. I hate doing this to him. He's not even a year old yet.     Lets just hope he doesn't need it but I have a feeling he does. |
aww poor baby, prayers coming your way. i hope everything turns out ok.. |
I am so sorry to hear the news. We will keep Zoe in our prayers! |
I'm so sorry to hear that! Poor little baby! :( And I do understand that you hate doing that to him. I do hope it will all turn out well though. |
I am sorry! On the positive side glad it has a remedy. Will keep in my prayers and hope he doesn't need the surgery after all. |
Sorry to hear Zoe's surgery might have to repeat itself. Hopefully it won't. Prayer's coming your way in hopes things will heal correctly over the next 6 weeks. |
knee Is he limping..having any problems? |
Poor baby and you! Hoping in 6 weeks you get good news. |
That's awful. I hope he doesn't need additional surgery. Did an orthopedist perform the previous surgery or regular vet? Could that be the problem - if it was a regular vet? I don't know myself. Just a thought.:( |
What grade was the luxation prior to surgery? Is he limping or does he seem to be in pain? Have you thought about a second opinion? I know it may seem overwelming right now but we're here to support you and Zoe. Sending prayers up for you and Zoe right away. :hands: |
So sorry to hear that he might have to have surgery. Prayers coming that he improves before his next visit. |
Thank you all for your prayers ans support. His luxating patella prior to surgery was SEVERE. It wasn't even graded because he couldn't even walk without limping. 3 vets suggested IMMEDIATE surgery and thats what happened. he was operated at 7 months old not long after his neuter. He does not seem to be in pain however a sudden "cramp" happened 2 days ago that alerted me that there may be something wrong, I didn't even think about the clicking...I thought it was his joints cracking. The vet told me to resume normal behavior and let him run, jump and allow stairs fot the next 6 weeks and then we'll take it from there. so i will keep praying that its not necessary for surgery but until then i appreciate all your prayers. oh ...as for the specialist, we didn't go to a specialist but a well reputated surgeon. the operation was paid for by the pet shop my BF got Zoe from. These are the problems that occur when u don't get ur pup from a breeder but I wouldn't trade him for the world. He has been my life for the past almost a year and will do anything for his well-being. A part of me is glad we got him because I know of so many pet owners that would not put this much time, money and effort into their pets until i found YT where I know there are so many loving mommies here that would go to hell and back for their babies. |
Zoe is lucky to have you for his mommy.:p |
