Yorkie Toys Okay I have a question, has anyone ever washed there yorkies stuff animals...I am talking about in a washing machine...Lexie, Bear & Peanut have so many just sitting on the hardwood floor all the time, I just feel like they are dirty, and washing by hand I don't think is really killing the germs... So I need alot of YT's advise.........:) |
The only way I have washed mine are with a steamer. I bought one of those scunci steamers and it works great! I suppose you could wash them on the gently cycle and low tumbly dry them too. |
I have about 20 or more of them, I don't see why it would hurt them...but I hate to ruin them, they aren't cheap.... |

I do the same thing. The only thing is, a couple of times they came out kinda weird.. almost frizzy like maybe the dryer shrunk the fur up (if that makes sense). I'd still recommend doing it though. |
Thanks, I was going to do it anyway, but I just wanted to make sure I just don't feel that they are clean...after you come in from out side and walk on the floor and they drag them around....and slobber all over them....:D |
There was one special toy that Muffin loved and it was a stuffed doggie that was bigger than her when I got her. She loved that thing so much. She dragged it around with her for 14 years. By the time she left us, it had been washed so many times I couldn't begin to count. It had no eyes, no nose, and no mouth. It was threadbare over much of its body and had shrunk in size so much. But she still loved it. It had to have a number of stitches occasionally for some of its injuries, too.:D |
my dogs have a big white fur ball and a white tug of war rope and I throw them in my washer and dryer all the time when they start looking dirty. Hasnt hurt them. Also I call it a bed they lay around on during the day but it really is just a big white stuffed pillow looking thing or a pad to go in a crate and I wash and dry it also and I always use downy softner in my rinse. They look and smell better. |
Thanks guys I appreciate everyones post...I washed & dryed them...lol some are alittle funny looking but the babies don't seem to care..matter of fact they are playing with some they have played with in awhile, I think they think there new toys:rolleyes: |
I put all of their toys in a pillowcase and then put it in the washer. This way the washer does not destroy them or have a toy get caught on it and they retain their shape better and it still gets them as clean as if there was no pillowcase. |
I do the same thing, except I use a mesh lingerie bag for all the soft dog toys. (in gently cycle) Then I throw it in the dryer, and they come out as good as new. :animal36 |
