Willow | 09-09-2006 04:58 PM | I Am Furious Ok so we used to have a yellow lab named Summer. Summer had 8 puppies two of the pups died but the other six grew up into healthy dogs. (Summer has since gone to the rainbow bridge.)
When they were about 10 weeks old we started finding good homes for them. Four of them went to nice homes minutes away from us (two of them actually went to the same home!). We kept Sasha. One went to my friend who also had Gizmo's brother Max. (My yorkie Autumn is their mother).
Ok so a couple weeks ago, I got a message on yahoo from my "friend" saying she "got rid of Bay because she needed a place to run and be free and not be chained" and then she logged out so I couldn't reply!!! She doesn't have a home phone so I can't call her and see what happened. I am really sure she didn't find a new home for Bay because of how she worded it and so then I was really upset and worried for Max because if she can just dismiss Bay so easily what will she do to Max? I haven't seen him for like two weeks and this has me so upset and worried!!!
I never thought my best or supposed best friend would ever do this to a dog! Especially knowing I would take them back and find them a more suitable home for them! I really wanted to just jump in my car right then and drive the two hours to her house and take Max back! Ernie said I probably couldn't just confiscate him because she could get me for stealing him? Our other friend was trying to reassure me that our friend still had Max and that she mentioned just the other day how well he was doing and how happy they are with him...ok but still...why not tell me you need to find a new home for the large dog??
So yesterday I showed up at her house with the local Sheriff and with my vet records and pictures of Max. She didn't even TRY to fight for him! She was quite shocked to see me with the sheriff and I wish I could have caught the look on her face on camera. I just told her politely that I had come to pick up the things she had borrowed from me and my dog. She went and got my stuff and said here is your stuff and there is your dog. Max RAN to me and leaped into my arms and started kissing me all over!
I got in my car and even though I needed gas badly to get home, I waited until I had put one county between us before I stopped for gas. This person is no longer my friend, not just because of what has happened with the furbabies, but because of some other issues too.
Max is sooo happy now. We are soooo thrilled! Max seems happy to be "home" now too. He has been following me everywhere and hasn't let me out of his sight yet! lol
So now my question is does anyone have a clue what to do for razor burn? While my friend had him she tried trimming his hair herself and she took the razor too close to his skin and he has some bad razor burn on his tail. She also never took him for a trim on the nails and he had two that were curled into almost complete circles. I whipped out the clippers and trimmed them a little bit but not much because I was nervous about how long she had let them get. Oh and she cut the hair on one ear and not the other so his face looks lopsided now. Oh I wanted to cry!!! Ernie said we will let his hair grow out some and then take him to a groomer to get prettied up the right way. When she first got him his hair was soooo long and pretty when it was groomed properly. Now it is all gone.
I apologise for the length, I just needed to get it all out. My husband was the one who suggested I take the sheriff and he was really surprised that she gave me the dog back. I really don't think she knew she could have denied me him, but she said right to me and the cop, their's YOUR dog....never once did she say he was hers. I shudder when I think what this little guy suffered at her hands! He is with us forever now and he will never ever leave again! |
