How do i know if Frontline worked on my dog? I put Frontline plus on my pup Rocky yesterday Thursday 8.7.06 how do i tell if he has no more fleas he's always running around the apt. Do i check the floor for dead fleas will they stay dead on his body till after i bathe him? Because dogs are dogs and wether they have fleas or not they will scratch. How can i tell if the fleas are dead, he didnt have it bad. |
I have no answer, but have you bathed him and combed his hair with a flea comb? I believe you should be able to find some dead ones in there........Also, vacuuming the carpet is not a bad idea. |
You might find some dead flea's on the floor, couch etc, it depends how badly he was infested. Hoover round your home. I would give him a bath and comb him over with a flea comb, also in my experience if i pick my dog up like a baby on their pink bellies you will see either fleas running to find hair or flea mess attached to the hair, (little black bits).so check that out! i hate fleas, horrible little things :) |
The previous posts are correct in that if you bathe him, dead fleas will fall off. The only problem with that is, if you wash him too quickly after applying the Frontline, it will wash it all away and you will return to the flea problem. If you do bathe him, use something that has no detergent in it. You're defeating the purpose by bathing him with a flea shampoo as it will remove the Frontline residue. Hold him up and look at his belly where the hair is thinner; if he still has fleas, you'll see them. But, remember, it may take a day or two for the fleas to die. If you use the Frontline once a month as directed, you shouldn't have an ongoing problem. I've used it for years and like it better than any of the others, but that can vary from dog to dog, and also be affected by your geographic location. The only other thing I can think of is to make sure and use the Frontline Plus as it also kills the eggs. Best of luck to you! |
:aimeeyork I thought i had to wait 3 days to bathe him after i put frontline plus in order to bathe him. I have checked his belly and his butt too, i know they usually like to hang out there. |
