People driving with dog hanging out window! Yesterday a lady drove by me with a car load of kids and this little tiny yorkie on her lap hanging wayyyyy out the window, as she went around the corner he nearly FELL out of the car! She wasnt even holding on to him. I just dont get how some people can be so stupid and careless!! |
It makes me so nervous to see a dog hanging out the window, especially the little ones, I'l always afraid they might fall or jump out. |
It scares me also seeing this, or having them ride in the back of a pick-up. |
That bothers me too. |
I've never let any dog I've ever had hang out the window. I'm always afraid a bug or something will hit them in the eye and cause damage. I also hate to see dogs in the back of a pick-up truck. What if the truck had to swerve or something...too scary to even think about. |
I am very guilty of this. I live on the side of a mountain and on the way down the mountain Diesel loves hanging his head out of the window.Of course we are going very fast and he isn't hanging all the nway out. He likes to just stick his face in the wind. I am holding onto his harness the entire time. As long as we aren't going very fast I let him do it. As for dogs riding on the back of trucks well we can't let our shepherd ride in the front. He is just way to big for that. I will sit back there and hold him when we do it but sometimes it has to be done. If we are taking him to the creek to play( a HUGE creek) he can't ride in the front.I think if you are responsible about it all there isn't anything wrong with it. Michelle |
I dont get it either why people let there dogs hang out the window. When we go to the Lakes in Brooville, I also hate it when they have their dogs on the golf cart just standing there while they are driving.. no one holding on to them. I would never do that to Maddie. I would be scared to death she would stumble and fall off. :p |
The only way for me to feel safe about my boy is for him to ride zipped up in his carrier and I also buckle the carrier up... I might be a little overprotective but I can't imagine him sitting on the sit and being thrown places as the car moves, goes through bumps, swerves etc... I KNOW he wouldn't be able to stay in the seat (and I don't drive like a maniac ;) ). But I take him to work every day and it's about 30 min drive, I want him to be comfortable as well. |
Just the other day we were behind a car that had a basset hound hanging out the back window. I told hubby to be careful cause I just knew the dog was going to jump out the window. He hadn't by the time they turned off but you never know. There was not even any one in the back with him. When Gypsy is with me I can not even stand to have the windows down cause I am afraid of her falling out. Usually she is in her carrier but always at least held short distances. |
Ok, I am guilty of this too. Katy loves to hang out of the window. We have a ritual, when she get in the car we have a special leash. She goes and gets it from the passenger side and gives it to me, so I can put it on her, then we go about 5 miles an hour through our subdivision. Once we get to the main road we put the window up and then she sits on the arm rest and waits for me to come to a stop sign and open the window again, she hangs her head out and looks at all of the people in the cars around us. This process is repeated at every stop sign. |
Here, she'd have gotten a ticket! |
That makes me so nervous, too! We have a beagle and we would never do that, I'd be concerned about the minor things (ie: debris, etc) and also the major concerns (as in, a major accident!). It also makes me very nervous when I see dogs in the back of the truck. :( I try not to be judgemental - but SO many things could go wrong in that situation, know what I mean? |
my friend let his golden do this & a rock got kicked up and got inbeded in his eye he had to have surgery thank god his eye is ok |
