A Groomer Question I know that some Yorkies have skin problems, and react to some shampoos. Do you take your own shampoo to the groomer? Kate |
I buy my own dog shampoo from Petsmart and bathe them weekly myself. Sandy goes to the groomer once a month because I keep her in a short cut. I have so far done all the grooming for Tia myself :) |
I have had Sadie for one week, and bathed her twice, as she came from a farm, and smelled horrible. My vet said this is too much, and once a month is fine as baths dry out their skin/coats. Comments? Kate Quote:

I guess every dog is different. Gus could never make it a month, he would be smelly and filthy. I bathe him every seven to ten days. |
An interesting concept..taking your shampoo, etc. to the groomer! I guess if they were sensitive tht would be a good idea. I am not sure what my groomer uses. |
My Yorkie book says they should have a bath every week to every other week. |
Thanks Sara. I have a Yorkie book, but she came into my life so quickly, that I have not had time to read it. Kate Quote:

I bathe Gucci once a week or sooner if necessary. :aimeeyork |
bathing Once you establish her skin is clean and healthy..and it should be now since she is with you...bathe her every 7 to 10 days with a good pet shampoo adn conditioner. If you notice any skin poroblems, use Clorehexaderm shampoo..it will rid the skin of any bacterial problems. Vets are not breeders, vets are not groomers, but we love them anyway! LOL |
I don't want to scare anyone - A member of another site took her baby to a groomer and it turned out the shampoo the groomer used caused a serious allergic reaction and her yorkie didn't make it - This could also happen at home I would imagine - but you have a really great idea taking your own shampoo - I had not thought of that... |
Thank you Pat. Is Clorehexaderm something I can find at a pet store? Kate Quote:
