PETSMART Customers are Gross! I was @ Petsmart in Myrtle Beach, SC. the other day........there was a Family w/2 girls about 9 or 10 yrs. old both had Maltese puppies on a leash, typical looking Parents, their Dogs were constantly barking, snarling/growling wildly at every Dog they saw, they were all laughing and having fun? Their cute little puppies left squirts of excited pee and even mushy wet pooh, down every isle! No, they never cleaned it, even though they are cleaning stations and sighns posted every where in the Store! Even worse they never reprimanded their Pets for any Bad Behaviour, the barking, charging @ other Dogs, etc. And NO One, not even the Petsmart employees would pick it up? How "GROSS" is that?!!! Not to mention "Shopping" is one of the worst places to "Socialize", "Rescue" Pets for the first time? Just b/c Petsmart has Dogs there doesn't mean it's a good place to hang-out? Just 2 of my "Pet Peeves" about Petsmart and Petco!:aimeeyork |
Sorry your Petsmart is like that. Mine isnt. If a dog has an accident the wners clean it up or there is someone who works there who cleans it up. The dogs are always well behaved too. I have never had a bad incident |
:yeahthat: i have no problems at mine . sorry you did. |
Mine is okay too! |
We have a great petsmart too! We love shopping there.Sorry you had a bad experience.Ours is very clean as well.:) |
never had a problem... its always been really clean...i'm sorry you had to experience that last week when we were there for training someones dog did make a big mess and the owner didn't clean it but the petsmart staff had it cleaned up within 5min.... |
People like that irritate me. Almost as much as parents that let their children run wild in public places.:thumbdown |
My first reaction to the title of your thread was, Hey! I'm a PetSmart shopper! Okay, I know, you didn't mean ME personally.:p Sounds like a bad situation. I've never seen that in my PetSmart. |
I have taken Nikko to stores and he has tried to lift his little leg. Usually I will catch him and tug on his harness and he stops but if he piddles I always clean up after him. I think those types of irresponsible dog owners, like the ones you saw at that Petsmart are the reason dogs aren't allowed in many places. They ruin things for the rest of us who take responsiblity for our pets. |
That's horrible that those people would not clean up after there own dogs. Most people that I have seen at Petsmart clean up after their pups if they have an accident, and if they don't I see the store employee clean it up really quick and than they speak with the dog owner. As for the dogs behavoir, at the Petsmart I go to, they would be asked to leave and be given information on training classes. |
I always tell my mom (I don't buy dog food there) don't ever buy anything on pallets on the floor from PetSmart. |
My vet told me that it is a good place to pick up illnesses as a lot of people take their puppies there first before the vet and they can have kennel cough and other viruses. I keep Cali in her bag when I go there. |
I've never had that experience either. I see that you're in Myrtle Beach... maybe the people were on vacation and figured that no one would ever see them again. Not an excuse, maybe just a rationale for why this people were so gross. |
The Petco near me is immaculate - any messes are promptly cleaned up... all anyone has to do is clean it up themself (which a lot of customers do) or mention it to an employee. And - I've never had any bad experiences at PetSmart either. **** People who go around with unruly, bad behaved dogs are no different than people with children who do the same thing. Don't blame the stores and other public places where people like this go..... They just don't have any manners or class...... ***** Have to mention that it's because of people like them that dogs are allowed so many places. Right! Carol Jean |
I have always had great experiences at PetSmart and Petco, sorry you had a bad time :( |
I've never had any incidents with other customer and their pets. Just the rude people that work there. |
Thankfully our Petsmarts are clean and the employees are quite nice. |
:thumbs_do I try to stay away from Petsmart, due to the fact that most people bring in larger dogs and several times that I was in the store they were not being supervised. A new Petco just went in and it is very clean and yet I still will not bring in my babies.:thumbs_do |
Our Petsmart stores always appear to be clean, but I know not all surfaces are disinfected everyday. Like one poster said, it's not a place to bring your dog, too many germs and diseases to be picked up. |
I actually thought of this thread today when I had to stop in at Petsmart for some more Nutro Desserts for the dogs. I had my parents chihuahua in the cart, and while I was looking at the different desserts, I noticed she started peeing in the cart!! I quickly found an associate and asked him where the cleaning station was at. He actually went and got the paper towels and cleanser and cleaned the mess himself, even though I told him I would! :) I've never had a problem with my local Petsmart. Everyone cleans up after themselves. Sorry you had such a bad experience. |
here in michigan ok too |
it's a shame because crappy people like this ruin it for everyone. i've encountered aggressive dogs at my petsmart. i just headed to the other end of the store. leaving pee/poo mess behind is disgusting. imagine what their home looks like. |
I'm so sorry to read of your bad experience. Unfortunately where I live, there is NO Petsmart, Petco, nothing - I have to drive almost an hour either west of here or east of here to get to the nearest pet store! Because of the drive, when I do have a chance to go, I don't take my babies (because we are usually going other places too and since they can't go in the other stores - and I refuse to leave them unattended in the car - I leave them home). Maybe it's like someone else said, that family was on vacation and didn't really care because they would never be in that store again - which is such a shame! Here's hoping your next stop there will be better for you. |

Cali (Patti's dog) is the only other dog that Jake had contact with before he was sick, and she was healthy and without infection at the time of contact, which pretty much means it must of been having him on the floor in Petsmart. (Fortunately there are no signs that we infected Cali on our 2nd meeting) I certainly wont have him on the floor again, but I don't shop in that place that often (I only went in because I knew it was the only place to by replacement squeekers for toys as I make a lot of my dogs own toys). |
"New"/Just Opened? Well I never had any Problems @ any other Petco or Petsmart around the Country, I make it a point to visit them when ever I am in a different State, or Traveling on Vacation. I think it's just this one since it is "New" or just opened a couple months ago. I'm trying to figure it out? But I was in there just Yesterday.......Never go on a Holiday! Talk about packed, I thought they were having a Free Party or something? B/C their prices are not any cheaper than Good old "Walmart", if I can find it there I'll buy it there! There were even more rude people/dogs there than before, I think they should hire employees that actually like Animals, not just Retail Clerks that stock the shelves! That's part of what the problem is. |

A store is only as good as its employees. Hopefully the staff will learn proper behaviors. As far as the family you told us about.....I sat here with my mouth open. I can't believe that anyone could be that nasty. Yuck! How does one resist going up to them and telling them how disgusting they are? I take my adult dogs in to PetSmart but I wouldn't take a puppy in. Especially Adie! Our store is super. |
We have really great Petsmart and Petco stores here. We have never had a bad experience there. This is the main place that our dogs have been socialized since they were puppies (after they had all their shots). Our guys are so happy to go there they start squeeling when we pull into the parking lot because they know they are going to get a lot of attention and petting. I am sorry that you don't have a good experience there. |
