Is there a difference between scales? If you weighed your yorkie at the post office vs the vet's is there a difference in weight? If Shylah weighs 2.6lbs at the vets, is that 2lbs 6 oz or 2lbs and 6/10th of an ounce. I don't know if this post makes sense. But a friend of mine told me they are two different types of weighing? Confused??:confused: |

no difference i have a postaal scale that I weighed Silk's baby on and it weighed the exact same at the vet when it was born. I don't much trust my vet's scales. I took ceeby in the other day because people have beeen wwanting him as a stud so I needed to get some things done. I handed theem to the girl and she weeighed him and said oh my, he doesn't look that big". I said howw much. She said 7.7 lbs. I knew it wasn't right so she moved her scales out from the wall a little and put them on zero again and he weighed 3.3 lbs. Just what I thought he did. |
I think that 2.6 means 2lbs and .6 of a pound - so that would be 2lbs 9.6oz. (I don't think the vet scales measure in fractions of ounces) - this is the way my vet explained it to me. I would imagine it would be the same anywhere... |

2.6 means 2 pounds and 6/10 of a pound or 2 pounds 9.6 ounces, but many say 2.6 when they mean 2 pounds, 6 ounces. If the digital scales shows 2.6 it means the first example, but if a person says 2.6 - ask what they mean. |

We always use the same postal scale at David's work - that way we know if there is a significant change in Punkin's weight. The vet's scale is close but not the same reading. |
I hope no one minds if I cross post this but I have a question very similiar. Scampers weighs 5.8 at the vet's scale. The scale is one of those large digital scales and once it goes to one above .9 it goes to another pound. They are 16 ounces is a pound so this scale can't be weighing in pounds and ounces right?? He is also little and does NOT feel like he weighs around 6 pounds. The person that weighed him didn't not do a good job, she counted the weight when he was moving all over the scale so I weighed him the right way and it made a big difference. So does he weigh 5 pounds 8 ounces or how much does he really weigh?? Thanks to anyone who can answer my question!!! |
When I took Bear to the vet, I weigh him first the vet weigh him and it said 12 lbs I told the tech there was no way so she cut it off and then put him on it his wt was 5.6lbs my scale said 5.4lbs |
Mystery... At one vet's office, J.J weighed in 1.65 (9 weeks). A week later - 1.5. Then, the next day (different vet) - 1.8. Last I heard, he was 2.05 (12 weeks). So I don't really know. LOL. Maybe I should get a scale myself. The vet used a baby scale though. |
