Really Important ?? Hi all, please forgive me, I know that there was a post on here somewhere about this before and I have tried but I could not find it. Bella has been making that "honking" sort of sound a lot more lately and I was just wondering if this warrents a visit to the vet or what. I thought that i remembered reading that a lot of dogs do this when they run around or get excited or something. ANY and all answers/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
Hmmm... I'm not sure what you mean by "honking". I know Stump had a hacking cough/sneezing sound. I took him to the vet and it was "inward sneezing" which was from allergies. My vet told me to give him some baby benedryl. |
Hi, You might want to read this link and perhaps it will give you a hint of what you are hearing. I always called reverse sneezing "snorting" because it sounded that way to me. I had a chi that would do that when she got excited. I don't know what you're hearing. Some get tonsillitis, but that is more of a coughing and would continue to get worse as the days passed, so you probably don't have that. Let us know if you figure it out. http://www.earthsangels.com/html/coltrach.shtml |
Here's another link to help you decide if it is harmless reverse sneezing or the more serious collapsed trachea. First choose hypoglycemia on the left and then collapsed trachea on the next page. www.glassyorkies.homestead.com |
go here and click on the link for reverse sneezing, and also check the one for collapsed trachea. http://yorkieviews.com/health.htm |
