He Doesn't Like His Carrier When I put my baby in his carrier he is okay as long as i am carrying him around. But once we get in the jeep he wants out. He will bark as loud as he can. If someone heard him they would think I was being cruel to him. How can I get him to ride in his carrier? Is it bad to let him bark, or should i give in and get him out. (which is what I do). He doesnt want my son to hold him he has to be in my arms and its kind of hard to drive while holding him. I know someone can give me good advice. You always do.:) |
Unfortunately, you probably are better off letting him bark because right now, he knows that if he barks, you'll let him out. You might try putting him in the carrier for really short periods of time and slowly increasing the time. Maybe take him for a ride around the block or something at first. Another alternative might be to try a doggy carseat. Good luck to you! |
You might want to put him in a car seat. Jewels and Chachi are the same way they dont like to be enclosed in the car |
I dont think mine really care as long as their going too. LOL. They both love to ride. we take them riding on the golf cart off and on. sometimes I take one at a time, most times he takes kizzy, and sometimes all 4 of us go. seat is leather and is slick and i'm scared maggie will fall out she is so little. and he usually lets me and maggie sleep on weekends and he'll take kizzy with him riding around the lake (pond) whatever and she is so happy. you can just say golf cart and kizzy starts running up to us and if we start down the steps she is right with us and when we ride and stop to come in she dont want to get out. we have to just pick her up and take her out. lol But I would thinks its better to let him bark if you can take it (lol). he will soon learn hes not gonna get out and probably go to sleep part of the ride. Besides to me, its for his own safety and possibly yours too if your trying to drive holding him. |
Sadie has a car seat so she is all set...However, Lillie is just 10 weeks old and really too small for.....everything! so....into the carrier she goes...I am looking for a soft carrier that is kinda girl, I am currently using a hard carrier ( I made a comfy pillow to go on the bottom) ...she doesn't like it either but, if she wants to come with us sh has to go into until she is big enough for her own car seat so....I opt to let me cry....he will eventually stop.. |
Please keep your baby in his carrier and not on anyone's lap while you're driving. Let me tell you why. In '02 we were in a bad accident...we had our Yorkie with us but he was in his bed in the back of the van...we got hit head on while driving down the highway. I was holding an unopened can of pop and when the air bag deployed it slammed that pop right into my stomach and bent the can. I usually let Boog ride on my lap but for some reason that day he was on the floor and I'm glad he was because I don't want to even think about what would have happened to him...he was only 4 1/2 or 5 pounds so I'm sure he would have been killed. Please...keep your baby in his carrier or secured in a car seat...he'll get used to it. |
Do the car seats have a way to strap him in. He is 14 weeks old and he weighs 3lbs. Do they make them for his size. We are using a harness instead of a collar, so will his harness strap him in his seat? The carrier I have is a soft sided one and he can see but if he can see out the window he is not as bad. |
I agree. He'll get used to it. |

I put a bone inside James carrier and he wont make a peep, as long as the bone is in there |
Maggie has the small plastic carrier that kizzy used when she was little. But I purchased a think pillow with a sheepskin cover made for dogs to put in it. its a little wide for the carrier so that works well as the sides turn up a little and it keeps the sides soft too. when home it lays in the kitchen floor and they use is like a bed during the day. its so soft and thick. But she dont mind riding in the carrier at all. like i said in the other post. i think anything suits my two as long as their riding. |
