| Hoodwinked | 08-30-2006 06:49 AM | Aww, thanks for all the welcomes everyone! I'm so glad I finally emerged from lurkdom to join this community. :D
Unfortunately, life is crazy right now so please forgive me if I don't post very often. I am hoping things will slow down after this weekend. Quote:
Hookwinked - This is too funny...I just posted a thread asking if anyone here has a Cairn Terrier and I just came across this thread. I am looking to add to my family... was thinking about another Yorkie but I also love Cairn terriers. I wanted to know more about them...I did some research online but wanted to hear from someone who really had them and how they behave around their other dogs.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!!! I seen a puppy that I absolutely fell in love with.
| Oh, that's so neat!:) I've actually had my Cairns longer than I've had my Yorkies.
The Cairns are much more self sufficient than the Yorkies. You don't have to worry about them quite so much because they are much hardier. The worst problem I've had with them is two of mine have allergic reactions to fleas in the summer. I have about 4 acres for them to romp on and a lot of it's wooded so I have had trouble in the past with fleas. However, I haven't had any problems this year with the fleas!
My Yorkies and Cairns get along great together (except for my male Yorkie who unfortunately doesn't get along with any other dogs except my other Yorkie:( ) . However, my youngest Cairn terrier, Goldberry, is a bit rambunctious so I can't leave her alone with the Yorkies because she plays too rough.:p But the two older ones are very gentle with the Yorkies.
Anyway, I think the Cairns are a great breed. ;) |
