Long Hair Okay...so I've been reading around this site quite a bit, and I notice that everyone wants their Yorkie's hair to be long. My question is, if it's long, doesn't the hair get dirty on the back side? I mean...my puppy is only 5 months old...and last night at 2 am...I had to get up with my husband because she was dragging her bum all across our living room area rug (leaving lovely brown streaks behind). I had to cut some hairs around her bum area because poo was getting stuck and crusting up. Eeewwww..... How do you guys prevent this if they have long hair? |
My first yorkies hair swept the floor and someday so will Lexi's. However, I do keep her bottum shaved, her tummy, the tips of her ears, and her paw pads... |
sanitary trim... keep the hair cut around the anus.. sometimes it still gets stuck but thats just the way its gonna be when you have long hair.. the 2 am ones are the worse. |
Sometimes we mommies have to clean our babies bottoms! Just keep her little bootie trimmed and her feet and ears! :) |
I keep Tia's butt shaved and also use baby wipes every time she goes potty or poo. That seems to help with the messes, although there have been a few little hangers! |
butt I check butts all the time..and wash them when needed...keep her hair trimmed just around the anus. |
I'm a total bum-looker! I check my dogs' bums everytime I even smell poop! They hate me, but I've got to do what I've got to do!! I wipe them down with a baby wipe right after they've gone & this usually does the trick... |
I'm a LITTLE anal when it comes to this.. always checking, trimming, ALWAYS wiping "eye juice" and all that fun stuff,,, Bailey's is like " OH MOM"!! |
Yep, it's all part of the maintenance like brushing their teeth or giving them a bath. They have to be kept trimmed back there whether their hair is long or short. |
I trim Ambers hair by her bum to. But sometimes it still happens there will be a dangler stuck in her hair. I turn on the fawcett and stick her behind in the water and wash her back with shampoo and conditioner. Then out comes the sissors (sp) for more trimming. |
Wow! I didn't know that dogs were so much maintenance....good thing I can use my son's baby wipes! Another question: When do you start brushing their teeth? |
