If you log on to animal planet.com and look for Ceasar Millan aka The Dog Whisperer you will find books vhs and dvds on how to train a dog to stop barking when you leave the house. I saw an episode of his show about your exact problem and his advice really changed the dog. I wish you luck!!!! |
I know where your coming from. Buddy is 2 1/2 and still cries when I leave for work in the am. I have tried and bought everything and deceided he will just have to cry when I leave. There is nothing else I can do. Fortunately my neighbors leave before I do so no complaints. I do know he stops at some point and sleeps during the day. I don't leave food, stuffed kongs or anything else because he will not touch it until I come home. However he sleeps with me at night and we spend 1/2hr in the am playing. At night it is he and I. I really do try and make it up to him but he is getting better but it took along time to get this far. Last week he actually howled! I ran back upstairs and pulled his beard and scolded him. Havent heard anymore howling. Thank heavens. I bought a plug in called stress free or something like that. It is suppose to emitt a smell that the mother dog releases to her pups! Used it but have no idea if it helped or not because he still cries when I leave. Good luck and try not to get frustrated. |
