neutered but still going after dogs
 
archie has been neutered but today, he had sex with a female maltese. they were attached. i thought he wouldn't do it after being neutered. has this happened to anyone before? i have no clue whether the other dog is spayed. she's over 10 years old and was used for breeding and rescued by my neighbor. she doesn't go into heat or anything.

Good grief! I would have never guessed a neutered dog could do that...let alone with a female that isn't even in heat! I will be interested to see other responses here!!!

My two are neutered and spayed and they never try to do it. They never even hump each other.

I haven't had Buddy neutered yet. Probably sometime this month. He is 6 1/2 months old. However, our last dog was a female, had to have her put down last year at age 16. A mix of dachshund and terrier, would hump anything that came across her path for the whole sixteen years. Go figure!! Buddy trys to hump my male cats who are nutered. They are Ragdolls and HUGE compared to him. They just look over their shoulder like, " you have got to be kidding." He gives up pretty quickly. Dogs remind me of men!!!l lol

How long ago was your fella neutered? It takes quite a few months for the levels of testosterone to reduce.

Humping is a sign of dominance and even my itsy bitsy Dixie dog will do it sometimes to the Dougal dog. Dougal's ...er... desires have waned significantly now but it probably took the best part of a year.

I'm not sure if you said that they "tied", I wouldn't think that a little boy with his boy bits gone should be able to do that. Maybe a wee call to the vet if there's no-one on YT with an answer.

Luca has been neutered for almost 3 years. He tries to have sex with my sister's pitbull (who is spayed!). :eek: It's now a running joke with my family to say that the vet must have missed a testicle or something. :p

How long ago was he neutered? It takes 30 days for the hormones to cycle out of his system.

Hmm.. I have a question that kinda goes along with this too! Stump was neutered in Feb. and he still humps his Stuffed animals, (only because there arent any dogs that he can), and he does this to the point where he is "out", which i didn't know was possible if he was neutered. He also still hikes and sprays and stuff, which is embaressing, Especially when we are PetSmart .. lol.

IS THIS NORMAL?

Yes it is normal. Chachi still humps a teddy bear and he is neutered. He has also sprayed before when I took him out to Petsmart and at the vets. He doesnt do it at home but he will do it at other places where he smells other dogs

Okay, Thanks thats good to know! He doensn't spray inside our house either, just on walks, and when we are out and about. But I'm scared if I take him with me next time I go to my boyfriend's house he will spray everywhere since they have a male dog. If you have 2 male dogs in one house do they spray non stop?

Chachi just sprays once where he smells another male has sprayed. So if your boyfriends dog has sprayed inside the house it is very likely that your dog would spray also.
