Has anyone had a hernia removed from their baby? Maddie goes in next month to have 2 hernias removed and the be fixed. The vet thought it was the best to do it all at once so that she doesnt have to go under twice. I'm so scared and worried. She is just so tiny. She will be 6months old then. She weighs 2.7lbs right now. Any suggestions, or any advice???? How hard is the hernia surgery on them? |
My first yorkie Lulu was only 9 weeks old when she had to have two inguila (sp?) hernias repaired. We had only had her for 3 weeks and she was literally the size of a dollar bill. The surgery went perfectly and the recovery time was about that of a typical spay. In fact, they spayed her at the same time just because they were in the area and we wanted it done eventually. She is 3 years old now and has not had any reoccurance or anything negative related to the hernia repairs. |
Hi Denise, Kloey had a small belly button hernia and it was removed, I think I was more scared then anything. But she did just fine. Maddie will do great, it will all be over and done with in no time! |
My girl had two really bad inguinal hernias fixed when she was only 12weeks. She did fine but I felt horrible as she had to really big incisions on both sides of her lower abdomen. She got spayed but not till she was about 13 motnhs old and that wasn't fun either. Best of luck to your baby. |
Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. She has one at her belly button and one down lower around her pee pee area. I'm gonna feel so bad for her when she gets it done. But I'll be glad to have it over with too! Thanks |
My KimMee had an ingunal hernia too and had it repaired at time of spaying and she only weighed 3 lbs- you would never even know she had surgery- she was her same ole self the next day and it was hard keeping her still. I am sure Maddie will do great. |
I don't know anything about getting them removed i just wanted to say good luck and we are here for support! |
