Diarhea Question Zoe has been having diarhea on and off for the past 2-3 days. I don't think its anything serious because he is his normal self and still eats regularly. Ever since I Noticed his diarhea, I give him half a teaspoon of yogurt (twice since this happened) . I don't mean to be gross but his poo has a gooey substance in it sometimes. I don't want to run to the vet for him to tell me that there's nothing wrong with him i called and they said it shouldn't be anything serious. Again, his poop was pretty normal this morning but then he got diarhea just now. Has anyone experienced this? What can this be? |
What does the gooey substance look like? Bella had this for awhile she would have diahrea along with a yellow gel substance and hers was caused from a parasite. |
Im sure every case is different. I had to take her down to Michigan State because it kept getting worse they told me the gel substance was the lining of the intestine trying to rebuild itself from the parasite. I hope zoe feels better!!! |
sebastian just returned from the vet yesterday after he had diahorrea for a 3 days. He needed to go on a drip as he was dehydrated, the vet said the gooey stuff in the poo could indicated an infection. They are treating him for both food poisonong and a gastro bug. Hope Zoe gets better. |
hmmm...its is yellow I guess but its not everytime he poops. what did you have to do to get rid of it? |
He is on a course of antibiotics, and was just on fluids for 2 days. |
Mucous in the poop usually indicates a disturbance somewhere. I would take in a stool sample to be checked for parasites. They usually treat with either a powder or liquid medication for a few days, depending on how much parasite is present. Make sure he is getting adequate fluids cause they can dehydrate easily with diarrhea. |
Bella was put on a powder medication for three days which she has to take every 3 months she had a really bad case of parasites though! |
Were they playful during the time they had diarhea? |
She was active and very playful her usual self, she had a slight loss of appetite though. |
Chachi was playful when he had diahrea and he was still dehydrated. I would not let diahrea go on for more than 3 days and not see a vet |
I would definitely make an appointment with the vet just to be on the safe side. Bella just had a relapse two days ago so she's still going through it and its no fun!! |
thanks!! I'm going to see his next stool, if its still diahrea then I'll take it to the vet to get tested. Its just so weird because he still poops on normal schedule and his morning poop was pretty normal. But I will wait for his next stool and take it to the vet if there's no improvement. Thank you all for your advice. |
