Enlarged Heart? Hi there, i'm new to this forum as my yorkie came back from the vet today with an enlarged heart!? and a lower heart rate of 80bpm. The vet has recommended a ultrasound. does this seem out of place to you? The x-ray showed his heart was 1/3rd the size of his body? we are quite worried. I thought you might be able to shed some light on the subject for us. Thanks a billion Rach and Sebastian. |
i wish i could help. but wanted to know we were thinking of you! keep us posted:) |
Poor baby...how old is he? Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. Someone will be along that has had this experience. WELCOME TO YT. |
i have never heard of an enlarged heart. lets hope there are no complications and it just means he has more love to give. |
I work in Cardiology..... Yes - an ultrasound (an echocardiogram) is the test to do.... I know an enlarged heart sounds very scary - and, yes- it can be serious, but before you get too worried - wait and see what they learn from the ultrasound. Hopefully, it may turn out not to be so serious after all..... PS - An ultrasound is a much more definitive exam and can tell the doctor much more about the heart than an x-ray can. Best of luck - Carol Jean |
