Are we crazy? I was just wondering if owners of other breeds of dogs are as crazy about their breed as we all are of ours. Is it the Yorkie that just makes all of us ooooo and aaaahh. I can't see me being this obsessed with any other breed as I am of my Yorkie that I would find myself addicted to a web page that all they do is talk about their dogs. Is anyone following me? Yorkies are so darn precious! |
I am always showing off my babies...I am so bad. But their so cute |
Oh, I am with you! I took Sully to petsmart the other week and there was a lady in there, holding a cute little tiny puppy. I asked her what kind of dog it was and she said it was a 6week old pit bull. I found myself thinking "PIT BULL? WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU WANT ONE OF THOSE WHEN YOU COULD HAVE A YORKIE?" But I politely smiled and pet the puppy on the head and went about my way, with MY yorkie....happy as can be. |
others Well I think it happens to other people with other breeds but only if its the right one for the person or either if they are obsessive compulsive. My boyfriend is a Golden Labrador guy and if he sees anything resembling a labrador or retriver he goes haywire and it drives me insane. It's funny cause I don't understand it and can't see what he sees in them. But then again they make me physical ill. LOL Im sure he thinks the same thing of me and my yorkie except the physicaly ill part! |
Thats funny!!!! Thats the way I feel also. I don't know why anyone would want any dog other than a yorkie. I think they are the cutest dog going. |
Yorkie's are so cute, they look like little stuffed animals :D |
Maltese people are the same way! They are crazy about their dogs too! |
Maltese is another breed I find to be very adorable. I would love one of those also. |
I truly think a Yorkie does capture your heart. I have Annabelle my Schnauzer and she just doesn't have the personality that Schatzie does however she is still as loved. Schatzie's like my little play toy, my doll, my world!! Then again, when I went to Schatzie's breeder to pick up Schatzie from a babysit session the breeder had this long haired gorgeous Chihuauha. Her personality was so loving and sweet, I fell in love with her instantly. I asked if she was for sale but I was told no. Unfortuntatley she will be turned into a breeder, broke my heart. :( I really wanted her! |
The Yorkie is just such a great combination of great looks, cuteness and wonderful, charming and active personality! it's a winning package!! I know people who are obsessed with GS and Poodles as well!! |
Yep! We're all crazy! :D |
Yorkie people I believe Yorkie people will spend the most outrageous amounts of money for stuff!! On EBAY, Mary Holdstad auctions off her "Yorkie Bears"...over the last year or so some have sold for $10,000, another for $8,000, $6,000....$10, 000 for a stuff animal., can you believe it,.and if I had that kind of money I would have bid $15,000 LOL She also makes other breeds and those buyers never go anywhere near that kind of money...they bid fair market amounts like /$300/$400/$500. I actual paid $78 for a small mohair Yorkie on EBAY, I refused to let anyone out bid me...then I found the same Yorkie on Cottage Collectibles for $12..so I dressed a teddy bear and stuck the Yorkie in it's arms and put it on EBAY..sold for $315..Yorkie people are totally bonkers. |

Tilly & sami :D |
I'm with you guys. Ever since I got Toto and i found this website i have been hooked like bubble gum. I can't seem to get off it. As soon as i get to work i log in and make the screen go minmize so my boss and coworkers won't see. The only time i get off is if they seem to be catching on. But otherwise i'm on it all day. I even take my lunch and stay on it. I love being part of yorkietalk i have learned so many things. |
I also have two dalmations but they don't want to be babied like Lily does. They like love and affection but when they have had enough, thats it. Liliy is just such a spunky, happy little girl. She doesn't have bad moods and doesn't seem to want or need any alone time. Does anyone else's Yorkie ever want or need to be alone? |
I loved my black Lab like I love Stewie. I just never had a forum like this to gush on. Hang on... let me close Stew's ears... She was just so much smarter than him, even when she was his age. She flunked out of seeing-eye dog school because she was too friendly and was sent to the pound. My dad rescued her. She could make basketball hoops like Air Bud and knew at least 50 tricks. I'm not exadurating with that number either. She used to follow my baby cousin around when he was learning to walk and would put her nose under his butt to catch him when he would stumble. SUCH a personality. I am working with Stewie, but I dont have the $ to get a pro right now. He is much more cuddly, but I think it definitely has to do with the size and also because I let him all the time since he doesn't shed and she shed like a monster. :( Poor Minnie. RIP Ok, Stewie's ears are open again. I love him more than anyone or anything right now. I don't know what I would do if anything ever happened to him. I would be a complete wreck. He just cuddled up to me right now :) He must have read what I was writing about the Lab ;) |
My bro. and his wife have a Maltese, and he is spoiled rotten. I just got my Yorkie, and think of her as a little girl. I put berets in her hair, and love to bathe her. My friend in NY hurt my feelings when I sent a joint email to all of my friends, rather than typing them over and over. I told everyone how my life has changed, and how much I love this little dog in just the two short days that I have known her. She wrote back and said, "Congratulations on your new pet. I think you have gone overboard. A dog in my bed, no thanks". Wow, I could not believe it as I have never seen this side of her. Oh well, diff. strokes for diff. folks I guess. Kate Quote:

Yup - I think once "dog people" find their breed, that is IT for them. My brothers and sisters ALL have something different (I have 4 - 2 brothers, 2 sisters) One sister is into Westies, she has EVERYTHING Westie and is learning how to breed. My brother is into Poms and one of his had her first litter a couple of months ago (sadly, only one survived :(), my other brother loves his mutts, he keeps offering me insane amounts of money for Sandy! -- my other sister loves her simease cats! My parents WERE Yorkie people, but switched to Lhasos after they retired. And I am carrying on the Yorkie tradition and hope to be the first in our family to show dogs :) |
Yes ... yes, we are crazy!!! ;) |

I have had other dogs over the years that I have loved completly. But, the Yorkies are my very favorite!!!!! |
I think I am just dang right obsessive about my puppies!!!! |
I've had a miniature schnauzer in the past and a Shih Tzu and was never this way. Never carried pics of them, never talked about them all the time, never was addicted to website about the breed. I would say there is something about yorkies. |
I have had many breeds before. But none have stollen my heart like the Yorkie does. I would never of put any other breed on the same level of my children before until I got my Yorkie. My Yorkie is right up there with them she is one of my babies! |
Not crazy... just a little unwell... ;) I was late to work yesterday because I was reading this board! |
I have had Asia a little over a month now. I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday and I asked her "Have I talked about anything other than Asia since I got her?" She said no. Good thing she loves Asia to. Her husband is scared that now she wants one. They already have 2 dogs. (Chow and Pom.) And yes.... We are crazy! Crazy in love. |
Do you pronounce Asia like the continent or like Ah-sha. My friend's sister is named Asia pronoucned like that. Its Polish. |
Just like the continent. Years ago I watched a show where the girl was named Asia. I always liked it and was going to name my kid that. But I never had children so my dog is my baby now.:luvu: |
