I realize you were only curious about the debarking of dogs and only asked a question. I've never had a dog debarked (but my Jasmine would go on the list if I were thinking about it.... she can make your ears bleed!!).... Anyway.... good luck with whatever you decide to do... maybe you should discuss the procedure with your vet. |
I was not saying that you were a lazy dog owner since it is obvious you haven't had the procedure done. I was referring to those who have gone through the procedure. If you took my post out of context and as a personal attack on you, that is unfortunate but I am not sorry for posting my opinion. There was no need to get personal about me "shooting my brain, not my mouth" whatever that means. |
I believe that dogs that bark can be trained not to. View some of Cesar Milans videos, or go to his website for tips on this issue. It will take time patience and perserverence. But I believe it can be done. Figure put what sets him off, then re-create those circumstances while you are right next to him so you can correct him. Good luck. I don't think anyone called you lazy, they just gave their opinion on why one would get the surgery. |
thats how it goes to far its not neccesary to degrade someone to make a point I was just curios how it was done thats all bianca is not going to be debarked her bark is loud its a random question |

A debark dog sounded pretty? um.... Please don't do this to your baby. Like others said, it's taking away their voice box. What about when they really do need to bark and they can't because their debarked just because their owners didn't want to listen to it and work with them? I find no excuse for debarking a dogs. Im not trying to sound like a ***** either, so please don't take it this way, it's just that this is such an inhumane procedure. |
I have considered it with Rocco,I have tried every method out there and it DOES NOT work with him. He is very high strung. Dogs that are debarked still bark. It is just a lower tone. I have never heard of them burning a whole through their trachea. I think the comparision of debarking a animal to a child constant chatter, or however it was put is so far over the top and completly ridiculous. Maybe we should have our sons and daughters fixed at an early age too so they don't reproduce(note sarcasm) I have always tried to refrain from judgemental remarks, unless you have walked in the persons shoes. Calling someone lazy shows lack of education on the subject of debarking. |
I hardly think posting any opinion on any subject shows lack of education on anyone's part. The point of a forum is to express different opinions and learn from other people's experiences. Just because someone didn't agree with me, doesn't give me the right to judge them. The original poster asked a question about debarking and I said anyone who had this done was taking the easy way out. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. I never said she specifically was lazy. If everyone thought the same way, there would be no use for forums such as these. If that opinion makes me uneducated so be it. I am done with this thread. Have a nice day!!:) |
Dont do it! I think it is really cruel to debark a dog. |
Have you tried the coins in a can...shaking a can that has coins in it when your pup barks? It works so well for me...Maddie just cringes if I shake the can. Now, all I have to say is, "Should I get the can?" and she'll stop barking. Good luck finding an answer!!! |
Your chi bianca is adorable(in your avatar), and so tiny!!!:p Anywho, I don't like the idea of debarking, but maybe there are some other options. I'm sorry If I couldn't help more. I wish you and your baby bianca the best! |
Connie, I haven't tried that. I will buy a coke tommorrow and give that a try. Thanks. |
