Has anyone heard of Jarbeth Kennels?
 

I think I may have found my little girl, but I was wondering if any of you know anything about Jarbeth Kennels in Missouri? That is where she is at and I just wanted to check with all of you first to see if you had anything positive or negative to share about them. Thank you so much!

To be honest I would pass, they have way too many breeds and dogs. I also do not like their health guarantee, reputable breeders have a 1 year guarantee.

Thank you both for your responses. I was concerned about the number of breeds they are raising, but they do have a large family and property to raise their animals, so I thought maybe that wasn't too bad after all. Their prices are very reasonable, especially when every time I find a rescue the foster mom's are asking for $475 to $600 and these are older dogs with different issues, such as health or behavior problems.

I will definitely double check the health guarantee - I've been looking so much lately that I thought they did offer the 1 year health guarantee.

Now I don't know what to do. I want a yorkie girl so badly and just can't seem to find the right one for the right price.

I know how you feel, when I was looking for my yorkies my heart just ached. I wanted a puppy so bad, its so hard to know which breeders are good or bad and cute puppies pulling at your heartstrings don't help. But don't you worry your puppy is out there for you.

Here is a list of questions to ask breeders when searching for your puppy.


1) How many litters do they produce in a year?

2) How old are the parents?

3) Have they had health testing done (liver shunt testing, blood panels and LP's checked and any other test pertaining to the breed simple vet exams aren't enough)

4) Can they show you proof of the test results?

5) Is their paperwork in order? (pedigrees, registrations,health tests, exams,medical records,etc)

6) Do they have references you can check out?

7) Are they opposed to you checking with their vet?

8) Are they knowledgable about the breed(s) they are breeding/selling? (you should be as well so that you will know if it's hype you are hearing or truth)

9) Are their prices in reason with the quality, temperment, bloodlines,health testing done?

10) Do they have their adults and puppies temperament tested?

11) Do they offer a health guarantee for genetic defects?

12) Do they have a contract? (they should, this is important)

13) Do they have a buy back/take back clause in their contract ? (this is important and should say that they will buy back/take back/help rehome any dog/puppy produced by them at any time for any reason)

14) Do they sell on spay/neuter contracts? (again very important)

15) Do they offer contact info so you can contact them after the sale if you should have questions or concerns?

16) Do they feed good quality food? (again important and says something about the breeder)

17) Do they send home a puppy kit with food being fed, info about the breed, grooming info, health info on parents (copies of health test results), health info on puppies (first vaccinations and health certificate from the vet), registration info?

18) If purebred are the puppies registered with a legitamate registry? (AKC, UKC, CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) beware of the scam registries such as ckc (continental or canine kennel club), ACKC (American Canine Kennel club), WWKC (World Wide Kennel Club) among others

I'm not opposed to a little boy - my husband thought a girl might be better as boys can tend to be more territorial. What do you think and how much is your little guy? Do you have pictures of him?

I've never heard of them - but after looking and reading - I had to laugh - they said this : hmmmmmmmmmmmm....they sell SEVEN Different breeds of dogs and more ?(whatever that means) ...That's alot of breeds.

I'd keep looking. I know it's hard and my heart goes out to you but save yourself some possible future heartache by finding a reputable breeder.
