need advice on socalizing Luna with her new sister! 2 Attachment(s) Hello all, well we finally did it! we brought home a new puppy. Felicia is a four month old half Papillion and half yorkie female. We have a year and a half old yorkie female named Luna, so we are wondering if we should have separate food areas? separate pee pee pads? Luna goes out side but we keep a pad in the house just incase. Well Luna went number 2 this morning in the bedroom, something she never does. She seems to be smelling Felicia but backs away. I know it will probably take time but any advice would be so helpful. thank you so much! |
She's so cute!! CONGRATS!! My dogs have always shared the same pee pads and that worked well for us. Good luck and enjoy your new baby!! :D |
thank you!!! |
Give them a week or so and I'm sure they will be the best of friends! I have heard that having two female puppies is the most difficult (as opposed to male/female) as far as them getting along - BUT there are tons of people on here with multiple girl babies and they get along famously. Just make sure that Luna isn't feeling like she's being replaced by the new puppy - when you give treats, Luna should get hers first, etc. If anything, focus more attention on Luna for the first little bit until she starts to come around. As for Luna's accident in the bedroom - she could be regressing a bit due to the change of having the new puppy around. Any disruption in their routine and dogs can completely regress. When I move furniture around in my apartment, Oscar always has a few accidents becauses it's 'new' - then he settles back into his routine. I would just go back to basic training with Luna if she continues to have accidents - give her praise and a treat if she goes on the pad, etc. Good luck! Felicia is adorable!! |
wow thanks so much for you advice..last night was a little better. And we are paing lots of attention to luna, I took her for a ride last night while felicia stayed home. And she seemed to be in better spirits. thanks again! |
