Zoie got out today :-( I DID FIND HER, BUT here is what happened: I found a pee puddle in the kids play room (a room she loves to pee in at least twice a week) and I got so mad at her. I found her wandering around the kitchen and I picked her up, took her into the other room and showed her the pee, then I picked her up and put her face to face with me and said very harshly, No, Zoie, don't pee in the play room, pee outside. Then I took her out to back door and set her down on the patio steps and said Do that crap out here......I'm sorry, but i'm frustrated, I had just spent 20 or 30 minutes cleaning her other "messes" with a shampooer. Still have to work on them some more but that is besides the point. So, 10 or 15 minutes later I go to find her and look outside and can't find her. I look inside, call for her, ask the kids if they have her and panic. I start yelling at my 2 year old to get his friggin shoes on...he has to "DO IT MYSELF" and that takes at least 1 minute, all the time I'm thinking if we don't hurry up she's going to get taken or run over. So, we finally get out and walk up and down one of3 streets we need to go down and come back to get the car cause the kids walk too slow, then my 5 year old says, "there's Zoie" and sure enough she comes running from the intersection near our house (in our subdivision, not a major one). So, she was happy to see us, we were so happy to see her and she was so cute. She came home and got a big drink of water, BURPED and then went to bed and I haven't heard from her in over an hour!!! We have a fence and she's never gotten out before. Now I'm scared to let her out. I have two little kids and it's not practical to go with her every time I even think she needs to pee!! I guess I'll be using a leash until I figure out where she got out. |
I am SO happy she was found and OK, there have been alot of little "escapees" lately.... how scary that must have been for you. d |
Wow. There HAVE been so many to get out lately! I am SO relieved you found her! What a scare! |
snickers is constantly getting out lucky for me she never goes far but you poor thing u must have been so scared... i'm glad you found her and have ur precious lil one home... |
I'm glad you found her! Losing our little ones, even for a short time, is the most horrible feeling! |
I'm so glad she is home safe. I bet you were thinking, Zoie you can pee anywhere you want, just come home!:D |
Glad she is home safe |
that is so scary i'm sorry your having a bad day. mabey you should confine her to a room till she gets the potty training down. and go outside with her not on a leash and see if she goes to the area she got out under supervision you'll find it faster i hope it goes better for you. Take a deep breath and know we are here for you. |
oh gosh...that is scary!! I'm glad you found her! |
Can I suggest you crate train her? These don't sound like accidents anymore, it sounds like she's not trained to know where to go consistently. Glad you found her though. |
Oh wow...that's scary - you need to check your fence to see where she got out. I have my fence so boarded up it looks like a drunk carpenter was let loose on it - Since it's my backyard - I just don't care as long as my girls are safe. |
How scary! I'm glad you found her! If that happens to me, my heart will probably stop! |
You're RIGHT Quote:
LOL Yes, just come home!! |
It was my fault Quote:
I walked the fence later and found that the gate was open. I tried to figure out if the kids had done it and then remembered while I was on the phone with DH that morning I had carried in like a 20 pound bag of sand to fill the kids sand table. I had carried the bag in through the house, not through the gate to throw it away and forgot to go lock it afterward. I'm just glad it wasn't the fence's fault!!! We just got it and I'd hate to have to board it up! |
I had to respond to you. My Otis, a.k.a. houdini, got out of a ridiculously small space between the fence and gate post. I was home on my lunch break when this happened. After 30 minutes of panic, chasing, diving for him, and sheer terror that I wasn't going to get him back, I started walking away from him and he followed me and I was able to grab him. After work that evening I bought an entire huge roll of chicken wire and did a thorough inspection of my entire chain link fence. And, I won't let him run in someone else's fenced in yard until I walk all the way around it. He's just too much to lose, I'm not taking any chances. I totally related to your "drunk carpenter" comment. It cracked me up. |
