very sad day...can you help? 4 Attachment(s) Hello All, Today is a very sad day for me. As many of you may know I recently rescued a little yorkie mix (not sure what - maybe a dachsund). I regret to inform you that I cannot keep him. My mother is allergic to him and for this reason I have to return him to the rescue. I wiped him down several times but its true, he has fur. I am sick to my stomach right now and cannot bear the day that I have to return him which is tuesday. I cannot look at him without crying. If anyone is interested in rescuing this precious pup please PM me with your contact and I will let the rescue know. They are no longer accpeting applications due to the overwhelming response to Trooper prior to me. The rescue is the Sean Casey Rescue and here are the info I can provide as best as I can and some pics. He is adorable and acts like an angel. I can't express how sad I am to have to let him go. He really is a good dog and went through alot. I trust that YT can provide a good home and that is why I came here to see if anyone would express interest for I know that Trooper would be in good hands. Trooper: -got hit by a car and was picked up by state troopers on the side of the road -Age: 3-4 months , updated vaccinations except rabies shot which will get this following week. -a little under 3lbs -fractured hip - just got surgery for it on friday now recovering -neutered (as I was told but there is a cut down there that I think is questionable) -healthy - no diasease personality: -extremely loving and affectionate, loves to cuddle, always wants to be cuddled with -loves people - have not seen him with kids yet but he is so gentle I can't imagine him being aggresive toward them -playful -gets along with other dogs - he loves Zoe but its not mutual as of now He is a pleasure to have. I would not subject anybody to consider a dog if I didn't think he would make a family really happy. He is a really good dog with such a sweet personality. Here he is. Please PM me if you are interested. He is in the Queens/Brooklyn area. These pictures do him no justice. He is adorable. Thank you! |
I am so very sorry you are going through this heartbreak! Sending a big :ghug: |
Oh, Christine, I'm so sorry. I know this is heartbreaking for you. It's hard to let go. It doesn't take long to bond with these babies, does it?:( |
So Sorry I wish I lived closer. It is so sad you have to send him back. I hope there is some one out there. There alot of yters in the upper east. I wish there were more here. The ones I have met so far are wonderful:) |
I'm so sorry, I know how happy you were to get him. Hopefully he will find someone as wonderful as you were. :( :( :( |
Let's keep this post bumped up to the top!! I really really really hope there is someone on here that is willing to provide this little guy with the love he needs and deserves!! C'mon guys, check out that precious little face, he is adorable! |
Good luck to Trooper Please someone give this sweetheart a loving home. |
OMG! How sad:cry: They have special shampoo for people with allergies...have you tried that yet? |
There was a lady on here the other day who was looking for another rescue. Does anyone remember that? |
Chris and I have been on the phone back and forth all day -- she is truly devestated about this. Poor sweetie has been crying all day. Chris, just hang in there. Trooper will find a great family. I'm sorry babe. :( |
Thank YOu Just an update: I'm not bringing him back on tuesday. I will foster him until they find him the right home. I can't stand the fact that he will be caged up with limited nurturing. I would also like to meet the new family so that I can visit and have play dates with Zoe. Its only been a few days but I love him like crazy. If I would've known that he was a mix, this could've been prevented. Thank you all for your support and understanding. I need it while I endure this decision. |
Awww, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. But I applaud your decision to foster him until the right home can be found. He's beautiful, and I agree, let's keep this at the top and try to find you a good family for him! |
Thank you I appreciate your not letting that sweet little baby be confined to a cage with no home loving. I hope that the right people show up real soon and he melts their hearts. Good luck & thank you.:aimeeyork |
Oh, this is so sad. :( It's very good that you can foster him though. Hopefully his new home will be someone near you and you can visit. :big_hug: |
This is the thread where the lady was looking for a third rescue: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49322 |

Thank u!! |
I am so sorry for you. I know how bad you had wanted him. I think that its very good of you to keep him until a home can be found. I am sorry that you have to go through this. He is such a very cute boy!! |

Oh poor sweet baby. I hope you find him a great home soon. I know how sad this must be for you. |
Just a thought I was thinking about the allergy problem & wondered if your new baby is doing a lot of scratching. Maybe since he has not been in a home environment, his coat & skin are dry and flaky. It seems to me like that would put an excessive amount of dander into the air. Maybe if his coat/skin condition (if poor) were treated that would help. I realize I'm just grasping at straws here but just trying to help. God bless.:aimeeyork |
I know Chris really wishes it was something as simple as dry skin. :( But it turns out Trooper is a Yorkie mix ... and whatever he is mixed with is not a hypoallergenic dog (a non-shedding dog). Trooper actually has FUR that sheds. He's been shedding all over his house and her mom is extremely allergic to him. I can't tell you guys how upset Chris is -- she has been crying all weekend. I feel so sorry for her … she just loves Trooper to death. :( |
Good luck finding Trooper a good home. I know how long you've been looking for a yorkie to rescue and I know you love him dearly. :( |
Ohhh... he looks sooo cute! We hope you'll find a good new home for him, her really deserves it. :aimeeyork |
I so sorry things can't work out for you - but I do understand the allergy issue! I admire and applaude your keeping him until the second perfect family comes along (you were the first!). Best of luck to you! |
I feel so sorry you are not able to keep your little rescue. I do understand your mothers allergies. I to am allergic to animals. So far Piper being a morkie hasn't affected me to much. Only if she gets up around my eyes. We got Misha our Maltese do to my allergies & asthma. I have never been able to have an animal before now. I went through years of allergy injections, anything that sheds I can't be around it at all. |
Thank you all again!! I was still grasping at the possibilty that maybe its just the shampoo or something but I woke up with congestion and an itchy nose. Not to mention itchiness. so its not just my mom. He is just the biggest angel and I am devestated that I have to give him up but I do want to make sure he goes to a good home. Let me know if you hear of someone that wants to rescue. I guarantee that anyone who meets him will fall in love with him. |
Is there anyway to get him to someone in another part of the country? How much are you asking for him? Let me know and I'll check around with my family if there could be some way to get him here to Alabama. |
He's a rescue. I haven't signed the papers yet. But the adoption fee is $350.00 to cover medical expenses not for me but for the rescue. The next home would technically be his first home since I have not signed anything yet. |
This must be so hard for you, I hope and pray you find a good home for him.Wishing you the best |
