How long before hair parts/lies down? (I hate try to condense my question into a subject line! ) Kiki is almost five months old. Her puppy hair was EXTREMELY thick and curly, and just grew out and out until she looked like a chia pet. :D Finally, I literally couldn't get a comb through it anymore, and I gave her sort of a schnauzer cut a month or so ago. I left the hair on her legs, and that is still very cottony and hard to comb through, but where I shaved the hair on her body, it now seems much straighter and silkier. However, while softer now, it STILL doesn't "lay down", and it just sort of sticks out in all directions and looks scruffy. :p Which is fine....I think that's cute too! :) ...I'm just wondering if it will EVER lay down and fall into a natural part. It's probably 1.5 inches long right now. Should it be doing that already, or does it have to get longer? |
LOL ....your chia pet :) will grow hair...it's not really long enough yet to lay flat - I noticed with my girls it took at least a year for the hair to actually lay flat...Yorkies seem to go thru a hair disaster spell - at least mine did - the hair changes color - texture seems to change - then the adult hair grows in. I'm no expert - this is only MY experience:p |

I have a feeling Kiki will come closer to following the pattern your girls did, though...I suspect she'll be a cotton coat! And if so, I don't know if I'll have your patience with growing it out!~ :D The kids sort of like yorkies with shorter cuts better anyway, and it would work out since Mazie's hair IS silky and long, and I kind *have* to keep it that way cuz she's so dang skinny! So...one of both! :D [Sorry for the rambling, late-night, yorkie-mommy post! :D I need to go to bed! :D] |
Tinka has a very cottony coat and I had it cut into a modified Schnauzer cut a while back. Now that it's growing out - it is just the same - BIG! She has SO much hair. I haven't decided what to do with her. Does anyone have any suggestions?????? There is for sure no hint of a part on her! Kaya is the same age - 8 months - and she has thin, silky hair and hers is parting now - it is so much easier to take care of than the fluff ball! omega |
i think it's funny you mention that the look he had was "scruffy" because that's how mine looked when i got him and that's what his name is! i got him at 3 months and now he's 4 1/2 and he still has that thick curly hair...when i got him him groomed it was softer and straighter but it was back to thick and curly in a few days!! |
