yorkie coloring i know there are several threads on this, i tried searching them, but couldnt find what i was looking for......... i just groomed toby yesterday and he is MSOTLY silver now, he has black coming in and out sorta like an ugly duckling..... my question is this: Toby appears to have a "saddle" on  the hair around his midsection is still darker (not black, more of a darker grey ..... but it still has silver roots so it will turn silver eventually) has anyone ever heard of this "saddle" thing? |
no one has an answere?????? wow, i must have a teenage mutant psycho yorkie  |
How old is he... Bailey is 10 months and his silver is starting on his back at the part,, so maybe yours is just longer and eventually will be all silver its just to the saddle length now?? Their colors change until maturity,, 2 years.. so until then ya dont know what you'll get?! They are all different  |
hes only 7 months and he is MOSTLY silver (except for teh saddle area on his back of course).... hes a little funny looking because of the different colors, but i just took a closer look when i was outside and it looks like there are silver roots , so it should end up the same color........... hehe........ ill end up with a platinum yorkie |
Mine is almost 6 mos and only the hair on the top of his head is changing. He is red on his paws, black on his back, but the top of his head has strands with all three colors like this: _______________ black>red>blonde> on every piece of hair like he has a bad dye job or something |
Stewie's Mum, I think we must have twins. Jack just turned 6 months and is exactly the colors you were describing. His body has black hair that is turning silver at the roots. His chest is almost white. His Daddy was mostly silver and his mother mainly blonde, so I don't know what I am going to get. |
There colors constantly change until they turn about 2 years old. Then you can safely say your colors are "standard" or not. These stages in a yorkie are the most fascinating to watch and it only happens once so get lots of pictures and compare!!!! Just sit back and watch the show. |
Mine also has white on his chest :) |
well, She-ra will be 3 in Sept, and she is starting to get silver roots, only along her backbone area |
Jack also has a two toned tail, it almost looks like he has had an accident LOL. What about Stewie? I also noticed that Stewie's ears are really erect like Jack's. |
Stewie's tail is brown on the underside. Is that normal? I think we have twins... |
This is so neat, I will have to take some more pictures and we can watch to see if they stay the same. I am getting ready to make an appointment to have Jack's first haircut, but it has turnes cold so I may wait for a couple of weeks. I think I will be able to see more true color with shorter hair. He is so hard to groom, he thinks its a game, and even after a bath (which he hates) he looks like an unmade bed. |
Stewie looks a bit more red than Jack. He is pretty "red" like those "red" yorkies bad breeders advertise for $3000. Stewie always looks greasy; that's why I call him my little ruffian. I think it's because people pet him over and over on his head with their oily hands. I'm trying to let his hair grow out a little before I get him groomed. It's cold still in Chicago and I don't want him to freeze every time we go somewhere. |
Tucker looks greasy alot too! Are some yorkies greasier than others. I hope he outgrows it. He looks great the day I wash him and then within 2 days he is greasy looking to me. |
New Pose 1 Attachment(s) Jack looks greasy even a day after a bath, :( no matter how much I brush him. Here is a new picture of him showing his color a little better. I think Stewie has more red, Jack\'s seems to be getting darker as he ages. |
