Can Someone Help Me??? I am having a hard time washing Peeka's face when i bath him i've tried putting water in my had and putting on him but when it comes to the soap i freak i use the baby no more tears on the face but i can't seem to wash it off around the eyes and nose area? His face is so small do they get easier when they are bigger? I've even tried to just pour water on his face and he freaks when i do that any help would be great. |
Maybe you can try using a cup when washing that is what i do for gracie to wet her face and then to rinse to make sure it doesnt get in her ears or eyes! i dont wash too too close to her eyes dont want that to happen n stuff. hope this helps |
My groomer puts a drop of mineral oil in each eye right before she bathes. It helps protect the eye from shampoos. Baby shampoo is good but either way, you have to get all of the shampoo out to prevent skin irritations. Try using diluted shampoo (1/4 shampoo to 3/4 water) when washing the head area. When you go to rinse, hold your hand around his nose (making an "O") and rinse away. He won't like it but it'll be better than having sores a couple of days later. My dogs are 8 months to 2 1/4 years old and they hate having their faces washed. |
this is gross but his face always smells like stinky feet i don't know why but i want to wash with soap not just water he is only 2.8 lbs and 13 weeks and he squirms like i'm killing him LOL i have to hold him up with one hand and only have one hand free to do all this do your babies stand by themselves? |
Hey Amber, the smell is likely from the tear ducts... our male smells like that if we dont wash his face everyday. Take a cotton ball or a wash cloth and wipe the eyes out towards the nose. Also keep the hairs trimmed that go towards the eyes. |

The hair thats more in the inner corner of the eye out on the nose still should be trimmed back , not the part you would pull up for a top not. You have to be careful when trimming. I usually hold their head still and point some blunt scissors along the nose away from the eye and just trim the few that are "always" pointing into the eye. Hopefully this makes sense. |
I'll have to look at it if he'll hold still for 2 secs lol |
I have found that my babies like to be on my lap when I bath them. you get wet too but it is alot enjoyable this way. so I sit in the tub or hang my feet over the side and use a sprayer and baby shampoo. about every 2 weeks or as needed. |

Sometimes use a wash clothe to wash the face |

I don't use soap on Sadie's face. I will hold both her ears so water doesn't get in her ears, hold her head up, and gently spray the top of her head so the water goes down her face..I only apply shampoo to the top of her head and just a little around the long hair around her nose. When I rinse I do the same thing...O...and I either a wet "doggie" wash cloth or paper towel to wash her eyes. This works for me. |
I use a wash cloth on her head and face when giving her a bath. I also put my feet in the tub when bathing her it seems to calm her down. |
Well sorry if I was wrong....we have always been told by our vet to cut the little bit of hair that stick in the eye to keep infections away!! I guess my dog looks horrible. Sorry |
