Sister or Brother? So, we are not getting Mia a sis or a bro right away, but we are going to get another Yorkie as soon as our housing situation is more accomodating. What I am curious about is what sex should our next Yorkie be? Do girls get along better with girls or do they get along better with boys? Does it even matter? What do you guys think? |
I would get a male so you have one of each. My male and female get along great. No jealousy problems here. |
When I went to get Phoebi a sibling I asked my Vet first since I also had no clue which sex to get. She said that the worst dogs fights she has ever seen was between two female dogs. Not to say it couldn't happen with a female/male or male/male but in her professional opinion never intentionally put two females together. Since Phoebi is a true terrier in personality I now know she never would have gotten along with another female. Thank goodness we chose a male, different breed too. (maltese) This was the first male I've ever owned and it most definitely will not be the last! Couldn't be happier with him. Good Luck to you.... |

well you can have two female (who might fight) two males(who might fight or one of each (who might get it on lol) |
It just depends on the dog I think. I have two of each and they all get along. When I pick my furbabies out I just went with the one who tugged at my heart. You can't go wrong with either. |
I have had both male and female dogs all my life. And - they have all gotten along very well. Assuming that all male dogs have different temperments and personalities and all female dogs have different temperments and personalities -- it really depends on the dogs involved more than it does on what sex they are. My female little mixed breed and my male Bichon were best friends.... I had to put her to sleep and got a little male Yorkie and now the two little boys are best friends. My pets (males and females) are all neutered and spayed - so, I am sure this might be part of the reason that they all get along so well. EXCEPT - my little Yorkie (11 months old) hasn't been neutered yet - and he loves any and every dog he meets ---as does my little neutered Bichon. There is a rule at my house - "If you can't get along with everyone, you can't live here!" We are a real laid back, easy going family, and fighting just isn't allowed. I may sound like I'm kidding, but from the very get-go --- my pets are not allowed to be mean or aggressive toward any other pet. It really is "just not allowed." Good luck! |
My breeder says it's best to have one of each because they won't be jealous of each other. Someday when I get another one it will be a boy. |
