Yorkies on planes For those who have traveled with their yorkies on planes... How have they done? We're going on vaca and I can't imagine not bringing Howie with us! He's a very vocal dog, though. Do you think he'll bark the whole flight?? |
Peanut has gone with me on the plane about 6 times now. From DFW to Chicago is about a 2.5 hour flight and he does awesome. Never barks, never even moves, just goes to sleep. The less I "worry" about him and dont check on him, he does better. Otherwise I wake him up and he gets antsy. My vet recommended giving him some Benadryl before the flight so he gets tired, but I never have, and things have been fine. |
I took tigger with me once to lv from Dw which is a three hour flight(almost) and he whined in the beginning and somewhat on the plane(even with childrens bynedril) but I wouldn't pass it up agian. I couldn't leave my baby home. I'm sure some of the people on the flight were getting upset but hey He's my baby. |
Phoebe went with us from Seattle WA to Florida. In cabin. She did great!! I made sure we had everything on board we could possibly need. Potty pads included. Phoebe was use to traveling though as she went everywhere with us. Not unusal for us to do overnites trips to Seattle. I always use potty pads when traveling. Just made me feel a little safer. Also check with your airline when you book the tickets. Do not put this off. They only allow 2 animals on board. Also be prepared to really limit what you will take on board as your fur baby counts as your carry on. My family accuses me of trying to take the kitchen sink with me.(lol) Most airlines charge an additional $80 one way. You pay when you check in. The fur baby in my avatar is not Phoebe. Phoebe very unexpediately passed away in July. She was small and as I mentioned she did fantasic. Phoebe was like my American Express couldn't leave home without her My husband on the other hand often wished when I left home that I would leave without the American Express. :p The new little one is Annie and btw she is not a tea cup, Coffee cup maybe.:yelrotflm Just kidding. Right now Annie is just a peanut when she is ready, I will fly to get her and of course she will be in cabin with me! Hope this helps. |
