Welcome to YT! :welcome4: Ears: It helps to get an ear cleaner lotion from the pet store. Better take her to the Vet to make sure they are not infected. Haircut: Lots of Yorkies have short hair. With a good conditioner (for pets) you can maintain a nice coat but not without brushing. Start slowly to get her used to it. Potty training: Yorkies are notorious for being a problem in this field. When you take her out and she goes, make a biiiig fuss over it. It makes no sense to punish her when she goes inside. You can also try potty pads. Good Luck! You'll find tons of great information and help here on YT! We need Pictures! And :eyetearss |

Another Hoosier! Hello and welcome to yorkietalk! |
I agree with Mitzis Mom. Also, on the potty training... I've noticed that with my Yorkies, I need to let them wander around for a while outside. Most of the time, they will go 2 or 3 times before they come in. If I only let them go once, they will usually go again when they are inside. Plus, it seems like it takes a certain amount of walking around before they will poop. They have to find just the right spot! Welcome to YT! |
Welcome! I would have her ears checked by the vet. Just start traininging her like a new puppy. Crate her and watch her when she is out. Comb her everyday so she gets use to it. Good luck it is so worth the effort. |
:cheer: Welcome to YT!!:cheer: Lots of nice people and tons of information... |
Welcome to YT, glad you found us! |
If her ears smell they are infected. She'll need a trip to the vet. Don't mess around with the OTC stuff. Welcome to YT. As for the house training, you might have to go back to puppy basics, and keep her confined to a small area when you are not able to give her 100% of your attention. Take her out every hour. And keep an eye on her when she is inside. |

Hello, and welcome I'm potty training a 11 weeks old little girl.I potty train all of my yorkies (7) of them and it was not to hard .till this day if they come into the house for there baths they will still go where the pad was, I have a small kennel and I breed I'm not in NO club. They are 2 years old now. |
Hi Fran andf welcome to YT!!! so glad another Hoosier has found us!! YAY!!! Have you had her to the vet yet for a check-up? She may need to have them ears looked at if they have a odor to them. What shampoo and conditioner are you using on her to bathe her and how offten are you bathing her? If she has tons of matts, more then likely you are going to have to take her to a groomer and have them take care of it. When my Lillie gets a matt, I use olive oil and rub it on the matt and take a fine tooth comb and tease it out, also a comb with a long point on it helps. As far as the potty thing goes! Welcome to the Yorkie Potty Problem Club!!!! |
