Misc. Questions I hope I don't appear as ignorant, but I have not had a dog in 30 years, and I have never had a Yorkie, so here goes: 1. Is it OK for them to eat grass? Sadie looked like she was going to do that, but I pulled her away as fertilizer is on it. Is this a sign they are lacking in nutrients, etc? 2. I am finding that most of these posts are about pups. Can anyone tell me how much a 3 year old Yorkie should be fed? A cup of food a day? She finally started eating hard food today, so it was a great day. Thanks. Try not to let her eat grass. It makes them vomit sometimes. As for food, it will usually tell you them amount on the labe for the weight of the dog. 1/2 to 1 cup should be plenty, but I'd leave dry food in her bowl all day as long as she remains a healthy weight. |
Thank you so much. The vet gave me a sample, the breeder sent some food home in a baggy, and Petco gave me a sample, so I don't have anything to go on yet. Thanks, and when I finally figure out which brand to buy, I will read the label. Kate Quote:

I was told by other YT members that when switching food you need to do it gradually. I think you do 1 cup of the new food and the rest what the breeder was feeding. I am feeding Sebastian Natural Balance and he loves it!! |
This is what I was told by the breeder, but she eats another type of hard food, and won't touch what the breeder sent home with me. A odd little gal. Kate Quote:

Dont let her eat grass and more cause it has fertilizer. I think how much food depende on the type. The best be is to read the label. Good luck. :aimeeyork |
